In less then 24 hours Season 2 of the American remake of House of Cards should be hitting Netflix(Exclusive). Season 1 was received with much critical acclaim. It is well shot, well acted and, well written. It looks like Season 2 will be turning everything up to 11.

I don't have netflix streaming but am looking forward to seeing season 2. My daughter took off work tomorrow to have a "House of Cards" festival.

Let us know what you thought of season 2.

I just finished watching Season 2. I got started a little late because I wanted to get finished watching Season 1 again with the Directors commentary. I have to say that it's every bit as good as if not better then the first season. I can't recommend it enough.

I am curious about this show. Kevin Spacey is a great actor. I hear he breaks the fourth wall here. I like that.

Yes, it does sound like it has been renewed for a third season.

I think the breaking of the 4th wall is pretty important to this show. Kevin Spacey's character Frank Underwood is an evil SoB. Using the breaking of the 4th wall draws the viewers in as accomplices to his crimes. This is important because Frank Underwood isn't a very sympathetic character. To call him an Anti-Hero is too generous. One of the reasons to watch is to see how skillfully he maneuvers. The other is to watch the build up towards the spectacular fall you know is coming. To that end, the Third Seasons story arc will probably be illustrating this glorious fall.

Yeah, he does break the 4th wall, and its very well used throughout season 1. I'm 3 episodes into season 2 so far and I can say that, without spoiling anything, the one time he does it in episode 1 is just brilliant.

P.S. I loved when they had him do the same thing during the opening act of one of the awards shows this year - the Emmy's or the Golden Globes, I think.

I love Spacey but this show is so bad at times. the journalists are a bunch of unethical idiots, the technology (and OMFG don't get me started on the 'hacker' dude) is presented in way that induces giggles in anyone with any idea on how to use a browser, and the carelessness with which Frank and his team take care of business is just astounding. I wanted to like it so badly but almost every single episode in season 2 made me cringe.

The second season is just trying way too hard with the shock stuff. I've got to give it up for the acting of Spacey and Wright but the writing and stories are just too out there, maybe if they took everything they're trying to do this season and spread it out over 3-4 seasons it'd work but it's just too much. Ending each episode laughing at how ludicrous it's going.

But, I am still watching them so it's not all bad.

Did you like Season 1? It sounds like Season 2 is different.

I didn't facepalm quite as much during Season 1. I actually still enjoy watching the show (mostly for the parts where Spacey gets meta and talks to the camera), it's just that I can't take it seriously anymore.

My daughter was disappointed in season 2 because she said it veered from season one and was over the top (paraphrasing). She also warned me there was some animal cruelty. I like when Spacey talks to the camera, too.

In the first episode of season 1 Frank Underwood kills a dog. In the first episode of season 2 Frank Underwood kills a kitten.

Just finished watching this season. Frank the president? I knew it was going to happen, but what a dreadful thought. Of course, you know, he will have to have a downfall. . .

SPOILER ALERT
I find the show so far...interesting. It's easy to see Underwood as the bad guy, but the whole reason for all the ills in the show is actually the rich guy who is the President's friend and advisory.

1. He told the President to screw over Underwood by reneging on the promise to make him Secretary of State (what starts all of this).

2. He has the President's ear so much that he is really running the country, and Underwood doesn't like that. When that relationship is disrupted, the guy basically starts an attack campaign against the President and Underwood.

3. When it all boils down and Underwood comes out on top, the President is forced to resign or face impeachment.

Had the President been his own man and NOT let his "friend" control him so much, most of the story likely would never have happened.
I'm glad the journalist was killed off...she was annoying...although there is always the chance the truth of all that will come out by another means.

This seems to be a story more about revenge than politics. Politics are just a means to get revenge.

The whole bisexual 3-way really wasn't needed. As it was about to happen, I was going, "Don't go there....Don't go there....Don't go there...." And then they went there....ICK.
