Has anyone else seen the Breaking Bad prequel, Better Call Saul, yet? If so, what did you think?
I personally like the show so far. I like how they are showing how Jim McGill eventually becomes Saul Goodman, as Walter White had become Heisenberg. So far, I like his back story, beginning as an ethically challenged but impoverished lawyer, while his schizophrenic brother (Michael McKean) is a much more successful jurist known for his genius and humanity, albeit with a broken mind. So far, alums from Breaking Bad such as Mike (Saul's future PT, as well as Gus' hitman and enforcer), and local drug lord Tuqo, have made appearances.

I'm enjoying it so far. Same type of camera work and story telling that made Breaking Bad so great.
It's scary when anyone makes a spin-off of a masterpiece but Vince Gilligan is damn good at what he does.

Seems pretty good.

Saul starting out -- I liked the montage of him in the second ep. as a public defender (when he's trying to do it all the right way).

Mike as the stickler parking officer was pretty awesome.

It's okay. A little contrived: there are half a million people in Albuquerque, and already he's run into Mike and Tuco? How long before he just happens to bump into Skinny Pete coming out of a Pollos Hermanos?

And I wish the makers of prequels would realize there's little point putting the principals in mortal peril (gun to the head etc). We already know he's not going to die – he has to be alive some years later.

I think it's a bit of a slow burner. As with many prequels, there's no peril (like luan78zao said). Oh no, is he going to be killed? No, of course not. Being in the UK, I think we're a few episodes behind, so I can't give my opinion on the whole series yet. So far: alright.

Pretty good.

We already know Saul and Mike are not going to be killed, otherwise they wouldn't be in Breaking Bad. So instead they have to go with, 'How will they get out of this mess?'

He's not going to die? Oh no. Why watch this at all then, if we already know he's going to end up as saul?

I'm enjoying it.

Just finished the first season. I'll bet he'll soon start calling himself Saul.
