I do. I don't watch too much television and I don't see too many movies. There aren't too many genres that get old for me because I don't watch them enough. Zombies seem to have gotten old much faster than anything else. I just watched dawn of the dead and I couldn't enjoy it very much because I felt like I had seen it before. I never get that reaction to a film or show but I've been getting it with this particular genre. I'm having a hard time enjoying zombie flicks now.

The 2004 version of "Dawn of the Dead" is one of the first Zombie flicks you should've watched, not the last. There's less than half a dozen that are actually really good in my opinion, so you probably watched a number of mediocre and bad ones before that to make you tired of the genre.

The version I watched was on tv and the guide said it was made in 2004.

I don't think it's the movies I watched that made dawn of the dead seem repetitive. I think it was walking dead the television series that spoiled dawn of the dead for me. I couldn't stop seeing walking dead in the film.

It was little things that kept happening. When I see people desperately trying to close a door and lock it I know I've seen that before. When I see people trying to get in a vehicle while surrounded by a horde of zombies I know I've seen it before. The whole "group dynamics thing" that existed in dawn of the dead is a cliché and it's also the thing that always leads to the next crisis. It just seems the same to me.

The only thing that I enjoyed was the rooftop communication with binoculars and signs. That was funny. The chess game was funny. I liked that element but everything else was boring.

There are only so many ways to present an idea, and it seems like not many people want to be the first to try something new with zombies when there's already a working formula. Bunch of survivors, moaning and biting, etc.

Many of the big titles such as Shaun of the Dead, 28 Days Later, Warm Bodies, and Deadgirl all had their unique take, but I've lost count of the generic ones with nothing new to bring to the table. World War Z was one that probably should have stayed a book, because its unique take on zombies was to be incredibly long and detailed (which a 2-3 hour film can't really do).

Watch Deadgirl.

You have never seen a zombie flick like it, I promise you.

Not 'THE Deadgirl,' that's a whole different movie.

And don't read up on it first, just watch it. You don't want spoilers going in.

As much as I have liked some Zombie movies, you generally don't get the depth that you can get more often from certain other kinds of monster stories. I mean, If you want to create an intelligent and layered story, then it helps if your antagonists can actually think. For this reason I think zombies are usually not really the go-to monster for people who want to tell intelligent monster stories.

If you are getting sick of Zombies because of repetition, you might like Day of the Triffids. In many ways it is the template to the Romero-esque zombie story, but it is thoughtful, and goes in some interesting directions. I am not aware of any decent film adaptations, though.

There needs to be one that depicts the NT survivors going crazy and killing each-other due to their electronic devices not working anymore, which is probably what would really happen in my opinion. Just imagine huge numbers of NTs that are suddenly and permanently deprived of their iPhones, iPads, etc....

Probably no worse than an Aspie deprived of their special interest or any number of things.

A typical Zombie/survival horror movie:

Voodoo/Biochemical Type: Zombies rise from the dead and eat living people. Those living people panic, run and then dies. Only a few survive. The end

New Virus/Bological Weapon Type: Zombies rise from the dead and eat living people. Those living people panic, run and then dies. Only a few survive. The end

Other Type: Zombies rise from the dead and eat living people. Those living people panic, run and then dies. Only a few survive. The end

I see your point -_- ....

I like zombie flicks. One of the most interesting ones was "Wasting away", where parts are seen from the zombies' POV.

Except there's always chit loads of NTs in one place to easily spawn angry mobs.

Just the NT herd-mentality at its worst I suppose.

You mean the same thing happens every time like the way MrOddBall pointed it out? I do believe you are right about. The only real noticeable differences are running zombies like in World War Z and 2004's Dawn of the Dead or the certain characters in each story. I enjoy the TV series The Walking Dead.

For the most part, zombie TV shows or movies run on the formula of - zombie virus hits, makes dead people appetite driven automatons, from which people run from, and either escape, or get eaten, or get turned into zombies themselves, then repeat process.
The notable exception being Re-Animator, where zombies are purposely reanimated by means of scientific experiment, don't actually eat people (though they do kill, as a mindless animal would), and don't themselves change anyone else in zombies.

For some very amusing zombie cliches, go to tvtropes.org and put zombies in the search. It's a website that list 'tropes' for various genres and is quite insightful.
