I love that film! You'll just have to watch it again to see the ending - it would be tragic not to see the last bit of the film ... then again it is a bit harrowing.

Not as bad as requiem for a dream though.

Darren Aronofsky is the greatest director ever, imho. He has a new film coming out- has anyone heard about it? I forgot what it's called.
Pi is one of my all time favorite films. Before I knew that I was an aspie or that there were others like me, that character was the only person to whom I could relate. I get chronic migraines just like him and have had to take the same sumatripam injections. They're awful. I completely understand why he did what he did in the end- Watch the film!

I thought it was interesting. It's just that i couldn't watch the whole movie - had to wake up early the next day. I'll keep an eye out for it :P

would that be "The Fountain"? it was really quite good, but I felt like I was the only person in the theater to really like it. He's a fantastic "art film" director, but that's not the general movie-going public's cup of tea.

I liked "Pi." Had some very interesting scenes and a great, unique style.

"The Fountain" moved immediately onto my list of favorite movies. I don't get why it did so bad in the Box Office--I know it's hardly mainstream, but it was brilliant and beautiful and moving all at once. Plus, how often do you hear people complaining about the lack of originality in modern movies? Here was a movie that HAD originality, and nobody saw it! Sheesh.

I wonder if Aronofsky is a masochist? In all of his 3 feature length films--"Pi," "Fountain," and "Requiem for a Dream"--the main characters harm themselves at some point. (I haven't seen "Requiem," but I know it's about heroine addicts and I've heard about what Jennifer Connely does in it. Actually, that's why I don't want to risk seeing it. Heh.)

Requiem is excellent man, excellent! Overwhelming, definitely not a feel good movie, watch it and then watch some dumb comedy like Zoolander (love that movie!) to forget what you saw...
And don't watch the Director's Version if you don't want to see what you heard of Jennifer Connely...

Pi, great movie, watch the ending, how much of it did you see?

Well, the thing is I can't forget what I see, and it doesn't matter how funny the next thing I watch is, I won't be able to get some disturbing image out of my head and I'll have it blubbering around in there for months, keeping me awake at night and what not...it's why I'm careful about movies that I know will disturb me. I really hate needles and injuries involving eyes (in part because my eyes are so sensitive to pain) or private parts (again, I'm very sensitive).

Basically, there's a list of movies that I think'll be too much for me based on what I've read. One of the other ones is "Saving Private Ryan" (saw the beach scene...that was enough), others include various Quenten Tarantino movies or the "Saw" films....etc.

I know that "Requiem" is a great and moving film, but I don't want to risk it.

Once I saw with a bunch of people "Welcome to the Dollhouse" my God, what a depressing movie! After it was finished, no one said a word, everyone stood silent for a moment that seemed eternal...
Don't know who had the great idea to rent it, but we HAD to watch something funny after that, we needed to!

and yes, there's a bitter taste left afterward :(

I'm also like you, don't like needles and all that, and in tv I like to watch comedy, to make me feel better and have some laughs, not drama. I've enough with my life :P hehe
