One of my big obsessions, along with Dracula and Sherlock Holmes. My DVD, Blu-ray, and book shelves are filled with Godzilla stuff, and lately I've been rewatching the movies (I upgraded a lot of my DVDs to Blu-ray late last year but never actually watched them) and getting back into reading the many comics that are out there.

A lot of the other kaiju stuff is worth checking out too, particularly Gamera and Daimajin.

I've seen a few of them including the most recent. It looks like their is more to come from that one.

Has anyone seen the 60's crossover film with King Kong?

Yeah, I've seen all 30 of them, each one at least twice.

A lot of people who grew up with King Kong vs. Godzilla seem to love it, but I don't think it's one of the better ones. (I didn't get into the films until after childhood, so I wasn't influenced by nostalgia.) It has its moments, and I wouldn't call it one of the worst from that era either. It's middle of the road. If someone was interested in checking out Godzilla films from the Showa era (1954-1975), I'd recommend they check out Godzilla, Mothra vs. Godzilla, Ghidorah the Three-Headed Monster, Invasion of Astro-Monster, Destroy All Monsters, and Terror of Mechagodzilla before King Kong vs. Godzilla.

(There's a great Godzilla Collection DVD set which sells for about $20 and includes out Godzilla, Godzilla Raids Again, Mothra vs. Godzilla, Ghidorah the Three-Headed Monster, Invasion of Astro-Monster, All Monsters Attack, and Terror of Mechagodzilla. I'd recommend it to any newcomer who's just starting to get into the movies. Godzilla Raids Again and All Monsters Attack aren't ideal movies, but the rest are terrific.)

There was a follow-up to King Kong vs. Godzilla, King Kong Escapes, which doesn't feature Godzilla, but I think it's a better film. Kong fights a villain named Dr. Who (seriously) and Mechani-Kong, who was basically a precursor to Mechagodzilla.

Godzilla was one of my favorite movie characters since I was probably four years old. I've always cheered the big green guy on, whether he was up against the Japanese army, or King Kong.

I grew up watching the Toho classics as part of the Showa series which ended in 1975. This was before they rebooted everything, which I know they've done a few times by now. Some of my favorite baddies include Gigan and the giant spider from Son of Godzilla. All of the movies were really cool, but they did use a lot of stock footage. Toy cars and buildings being blown up cut and pasted back in during army scenes. The movies never got boring and 4front used to have a lot of them on sale in HMV.

Don't forget one of the shortest (but greatest) films of all time.

"Bambi meets Godzilla".

I grew up watching a few of the older films when I was little, and I'm almost certain that my adoration for monsters stems back to watching those movies. I also enjoyed a lot of the fighting games that have come out in recent years (including one for the GBA that seems to have disappeared over the years.)

King Ghidorah was always my favorite monster, but I found Orga to be kind of interesting conceptually.

Orga is actually a pretty clever satire of the 1998 American Godzilla. His face looks very similar (especially in the eyes and jaws) and at one point he tries to become Godzilla but can't quite manage it, and Godzilla seems to kill him as punishment for trying.

Godzilla was my absolutely favorite monster, and I sincerely felt bad whenever he lost at the end of a movie.

Godzilla vs. Biolante is my favorite Godzilla movie.

Godzilla vs. Destroyah
Godzilla 1954 Japanese original
Terror of Mecha Godzilla
Godzilla and Mothra's: Battle for Earth
Godzilla millennium series (final wars not worth sitting through)
Godzilla 1984 (Japanese version, don't watch the America edited version called 1985)
The rest of the Godzilla movies
Godzilla vs. Megalon is the worst of the Japanese series.

This is Japanese movies in order of quality!

Soon Toho will show off their new Godzilla which launches in 2016!

Also if you like Godzilla, try watching the Rebirth of Mothra Trilogy which consist of two and half movies of Mothra's son finishing his mother's fight to save the world.
He gains powers along the way...
The Bluray is on Amazon only!

yeah, Godzilla rules.
my favorites are Godzilla vs Mothra & vs the Smog Monster.
there aren't a lot of fans of the latter but i like the period flavor it has absorbed...
