Recently I've noticed that often I watch cartoons, I mean in my spare time when I do not have anything to do at the university. I'm 28 I do not know if it's appropriate that I watched cartoons, these are not new cartoons, these new with , kids are watching today, I just can not digest.

I watch these on which I grew up, like Duck Tales, Chip and Dale, Donald Duck, Mickey Mouse, Telespin, Animaniacs, Looney Tunes.
Or my beloved "Mysterious Cities of Gold " :D often minimizes the window when my mom enters my room , because I felt ashamed, I think I would be less embarrassed if she caught me watching porn, than these cartoons :D

Do not get me wrong, my mom is a wonderful compassionate woman (I really wish everyone to have such mom like my mom :-)), loving in the philosophy of Socrates, Plato, and Lao Tzu, my mom loves philosophies, often urged me to read with her Dialogues of Plato, Laozi or poems, but not Greek or the more Chinese( to be truth i would like Sun Tzu more than Laozi :D ) philosophy does not interest me too much. As for cartoons do not want my mom thought that her son is a moron :-)

But i know that she love original Disney cartoons, she was born i late 40's. My mom once told me that she loved to go cinema for Disney cartoon, but that was expansive, and life in post II World War Poland was really hard, so she does not watch often. My mom told me that when Polish State Television, started first experimental tv broadcast, she loved to watch Disney on Public TV set on Common room in apartment block where she lived. In communist Poland not everyone could to afford own tv sets. My mom once told that with all family she watched Neil Armstrong at my aunt her sister private tv set (Poland was only country in communist block who broadcast Apollo 11 lunar landing for with your communist party first secretary Edward Gierek was scolded by Leonid Brezhnev, for spreading the American imperialist propaganda, but our First Secretary Gierek replied that Brezhnev regrets that hurt our fraternal Soviet Union, but ne could to deprive citizens of Polish, such epochal events like landing on the moon, even if it made by the U.S. imperialists) :D

Damn It think I deviate from the topic, and I was concerned only about whether not ashamed to watch cartoons :D

Lot of adults watch cartoons. I don't know why it's so taboo and a guilty pleasure. It's actually a normal thing that no one talks about except online. In real life it seems to only be socially acceptable is when you are watching it with kids you take care of.

I don't think it's that taboo for adults to watch cartoons.

In fact, in the old days, especially during the 1940's, cartoons were actually created with ADULTS in mind. They were shown in movie theatres as part of a package: I'm not sure of the exact sequence but, for maybe 25 cents or so, one could see two movies, a Movietone News segment and a cartoon segment. During WWII, there were also war bond drives. You got your money's worth.

Watching cartoons as an adult is fine. Worry not. Most of the shows I watch are animated.

Yeah, I watch them from time to time. I just can't stand the newer shows, like Regular Show, Teen Titans, Clarence, Steven Universe, Gumball, Fish Hooks, Gravity Falls, Uncle Grandpa, etc.

Lately, the local cable access channel has been showing the entire output of the Fleischer Brothers Studios. They're showing all the Old Popeye, Betty Boop, Superman, Harveytoons, and Felix the Cat shorts. AntennaTV has been showing the old Charlie Mintz cartoons (Charlie Mintz is best know as the guy who stole Oswald the Lucky Rabbit from Walt Disney. Now you know why Disney is so anal-retentive with their intellectual properties.), as well as the output from the former IPA studios (Mr. Magoo, Dick Tracy, Gerald McBoing-Boing, etc.)

It was dubbed, you hear Polish voice-over but also original English in the background.
