Is it OK to watch the Flash without watching Arrow?

The first episode starts tonight and I wanna watch it but I have not seen any episodes of Arrow yet, though I intend to in the future but not right now. But do I need to watch it before the Flash because despite being set in the same universe, little references and the upcoming crossovers it's still it's own show with it's own plot. The Flash is not a sequel. Imagine if say I've never seen The Dark Knight Trilogy and I decided to watch the Dark Knight first. Now that wouldn't make sense. Now imagine if I've never seen any of the Marvel Cinematic Universe movies and the first one I watch is Thor before the first 2 Iron Man movies. That would be OK despite some references and even some characters from the past movies showing up because despite being set in the same universe as the Iron Man movies it's still it's own thing.

You will be fine to watch Flash. Without saying any spoilers Flash is set in a diffrent city than Arrow.

The only drawback to watching The Flash first is that Arrow might seem a bit 'meh' later...

The pilot episode really gives you everything you need to know.

The characters are likeable--Flash seems to be a mix of Barry Allen and Wally West from the comics. The effects are fantastic. I'd say it's probably the first real comic book superhero TV show. I can't wait until Gorilla Grodd shows up!

I don't watch Arrow, but The Flash is a great show!
