"Elfen Lied" Relating to this world's sadness
I was thinking about some of the things that have been on the news lately. There's always violence and death and all, but I had been thinking about Elfen Lied a bit lately. The story itself isn't anything complex, but the chracters are deep enough. Namely Lucy. I mean she get's bullied relentlessly and to an extreme point where these kids kill a dog and she then releases her vectors and paints the walls with their blood. Later She meets Kota and although she's skeptical. He was her light and only light in her life and when he has to go, Lucy kills his sister and father and was about to go after his cousin. Years later when he finds out this girl, Nyu, is actually the girl from his past that killed his family, what is he supposed to feel? Just...what...? It brings up all this sadness. And you can relate this to real life so easily, despite it's scifi elements. Lucy was sooo bad off that she did something evil, but on the inside noone is ever truly bad. And you can only cry if you know they did something aweful, because they felt so ripped appart on the inside. It doesn't excuse anyone from what they did, but it just makes me wish that everyone could see each other's pain before they go on the defensive or offensive to get back or get through to another person. We are so blind to each others' pains and scars that we forget to forgive. This anime really makes you think. I was shocked, at first, when Kota let her kiss him and then he gives her a hug, because she had done something so aweful to him.
I hope others can see what I saw in this series like I do now.
