Siguourney Weaver was reported in the British press saying she wants to do a fifth Alien movie because she things the series is unresolved.

I wonder if she was dissatisfied with Prometheus? LOL

Do any fans out there think there is anything more to say about the Alien? Do we need another film after the Alien Resurrection film? If she did another film then I can only think it would have to be something intelligent, and not just a action CGI movie about fighting the aliens. I think they would have to do something drastic like show the aliens have an intellect and perhaps have her communicating with them..

What do you think?

Of course we do. I would like to see a symbiosis between Giger and Beksinski.

I'd rather have a sequel to Prometheus with David in the lead. These films have been having a main character identity crisis for two decades. Ripley should have stayed dead, and trying to bring her back repeatedly isn't the answer. Alien vs. Predator gave us a good character with Charles Bishop Weyland and Prometheus gave us a terrific one with David, but they both got pushed to the side because the filmmakers were trying to turn some random and boring young female character into the new Ripley. Yay for feminism and strong female characters and all that, but Ripley's ghost needs to stop haunting this series.

Oh, Lord, I hope not! The last one was so horrendous, I was so happy when it ended that I cried tears of joy!

Prometheus was a mess. Resurrection was laughably bad. I begrudgingly accept Alien 3 as decent closure for the main story line. I cringe at the thought of another subpar Alien film. Just let it die already. Take a flamethrower to it and put it out of its misery.

Oh, and don't even get me started on Colonial Marines...

Xtro does the alien life cycle concept best, I think. Disturbing film...

...Prometheus does it badly. It's ultimately a movie about the mechanics of the stupid lifecycle of the Geiger alien, but fails to do anything shocking or innovative. I would have been more interested in seeing the creator aliens fleshed out. You can tell that Scott does not read science fiction, because he doesn't do anything interesting with any of his aliens.

Another problem with the film is that characters make very stupid and out of character decisions to move the plot forward. Why do the two most cowardly characters decide to take their helmets off in an alien environment, go exploring, and play with a sinister looking alien for no reason?

The protagonist is also an idiot. Why does she maintain christian faith after she knows for a fact that the biblical account of creation is untrue? I can't identify with a person this bullheaded and illogical. They should have made Luther the protagonist.

Wow I never saw the Xtro film, it looks good.

Yeah, Prometheus was just bollocks. All the characters were idiots and the storyline made no sense. Ridley Scott must have been paid a lot of money to get involved with that pile of rubbish.

I would like to see a new alien film where a group of humans go back to the original planet in Alien and explore the alien ship and figure out what the original aliens were doing with all those eggs. Prometheus failed so much at that attempt.

Prometheus is a prequel to Alien. The original planet from Alien: LV-426 (I think), is the planet from Prometheus. Off the top of my head, the alien that we see burst out of the creator in the last scene of Prometheus is likely a queen, which explains the eggs in Alien. The Geiger alien lifecycle, beginning with black goo infection, was intended to wipe out the human race. It was accidentally kick started too early.

This isn't in the movie, but it was in the script, but the reason the creator aliens want to kill humanity is because we killed Jesus. Jesus was an alien, sent to try to set mankind on a less destructive path. Since we killed him, we showed that we are irredeemable.

Actually, it's another planet: LV-223. The original script for Prometheus was a much more straightforward Alien prequel. The planet is LV-426, the ship they encounter is the same one from Alien, and the pilot they encounter is the same one we see fossilized in Alien. But I guess someone released that it didn't make sense for it to be the same ship and the same pilot, since the pilot had been fossilized a very long time in Alien, so they changed it. Different planet, different ship, different pilot.

But yes, it's still a prequel and still shows how the xenomorphs were created. The black goo was meant (somehow) to kill humans when it arrived on Earth. David used it to infect Shaw's boyfriend, he had sex with her and implanted her with whatever little worm was seen floating around in his eye, it grew into the white squid that Shaw removed from herself, which then attacked the pilot and implanted a new embryo which emerged from the pilot as a very early version of the xenomorph.

Phew. Confused yet? :P

I personally consider Alien Resurrection to be apocryphal, as the director and writers obviously had no grasp of sci fi/horror that had made it's predecessors so good, especially with the inappropriate use of humor and lack of realism. And I really hated the eight foot tall xenomorph/human Rippley hybrid. Even more, I despised the Winona Rider android rebel, as hot as she is. They'd have to work damn hard to make this piece of crap a jumping off point for a decent sequel.

That sounds like a really bad bit of writing. I cannot believe the mess they made of that film. When I first saw it I was interested up until the point where they went into the big cave on the planet, then slowly but surely the film lost its credibility and at the end I just thought what a load of s**t.

I would like a new alien film that is not a prequel, but instead has some humans take a ship or team of experts to investigate the ship on the planet int he original alien movie. That might be better.

I really don't have any interest in it. The first 2 are great, the 3rd was okay, the rest is awful.

Shouldn't the next in the series be a Prometheus sequal? That movie looked like it would be the first of a series. The ending implies there will at least be a sequal.

Ridley Scott wanted to do a Prometheus trilogy, with the third movie being a direct Alien prequel. I doubt that'll happen, but maybe we'll get just one more movie, skipping over the middle part of the trilogy and leading directly into Alien.

Anybody see 'Alien' circa.1979?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alien_%28film%29

I remember the film was "ahead of it's time" regarding the realism of what space travel may be like. I found the film disturbing; hence I have not seen another 'Alien' movie since 1979.

If that's true then you're missing out, because Aliens is amazing.
