Well, Phil Hartman's dead so we can't get an "Unfrozen Caveman Lawyer" TV-Show. That's too bad because that was really funny and those ads are not.

Quote:
Winner for most unusual piece of development this pilot season goes to ABC, which has turned a series of quirky Geico commercials into an actual half-hour comedy project.

"Cavemen" will revolve around three pre-historic men who must battle prejudice as they attempt to live as normal thirtysomethings in modern Atlanta.

Project, from ABC TV Studio, is penned by Joe Lawson, an advertising copywriter who was behind the "Caveman" ads -- as well as other Geico commercials (think the cockney-speaking Geico gecko, and the reality TV spoof "Tiny House").

Daniel Rappaport, Guymon Cassady, Will Speck and Josh Gordon are exec producers. Speck and Gordon, commercial directors who recently helmed the Will Farrell feature "Blades of Glory," are on board to also direct.

The single-camera laffer pilot is based on the Geico ads that promote the insurance company's Web site as so user-friendly that even "a caveman could do it." The spots follow cavemen in modern settings, reacting with offense to the derogatory slogan. In one, a Geico spokesman apologizes and takes the Neanderthals out to dinner.

Other blurbs include the sensitive, modern cavemen peeved at the offending slogan while encountering Geico ads in everyday life, including the airport.

well clearly they should get autistics to be the cavemen since its scientifically proven that we're descended from neanderthals.

Excuse me while I get my jaw off the floor after completely understanding how insipid this is.

Well, it's happened before. Didn't Ernest start out as an advertising mascot?

It seems like people either love or hate these commercials. I happen to like them quite a bit. A TV series...might be a bit of a stretch. Still, Geico seems to have a lot of original advertisements.

TV Land ran out of ideas decades ago.

The first caveman commercial was funny. But the ones after that are nothing more than the same joke being told again. If Geico wants to have a TV show made from one of its ad icons, give the Geico Gecko its own talk show.

It will flop.

I really wish Geico used one campaign instead of three. I blame that f****n' schizo gecko for the AS-problems I'm having right now.

Well, I am glad some people like these guys. For your sake, and not mine, I hope their show is funny (in whatever way it is, you know what mean :? ...)

This just proves that people have officially running out of ideas. The only good thing that came from commercials was Space Jam. And nothing else.

The Martin Agency, who has the contract for the Geico advertising is right here in my hometown! They were the runs who created the Gecko, and the Cavemen. They also do commercials for UPS and other companies. It's fun going down there and looking at all the cool ad's they have created over the years when do service work on their equipment. I love their stuff!
