Characters with Potential ASD

Which characters do you think have ASD or act like they do? Talk about your observations here!

This is probably going to turn into another one of those threads that ends up naming just about every TV character who has ever been in existence, but whatever:

Arthur (King of Queens)- generally annoying, turns a lot of people off, unintentionally rude, involves people in conversations they don't care about, says seemingly crazy things, poor volume control, unaware of what is considered normal, paranoid, unable to keep a job, seemingly insensitive, has meltdowns when he doesn't get his way, unstable romantic relationships

Comic Book Guy (The Simpsons)- aloof, opinionated, intense interest in comics, good memory, not empathetic, unusual sense of humor, monotone voice, argues with kids and adults the same way indicating a lack of differentiating between contexts, not willing to initiate relationships with women, inclined to correct people, wears a shirt that doesn't fit, didn't understand when he was hit on

Meg (Family Guy)- socially awkward, no close friends, always seems to say the wrong thing, says unusual things, poor volume control, poor hygiene, excellent saxophone player, not many interests, poor motor skills (though I know the show is very inconsistent with a lot of these traits)

How about historical figures?
The Duke of Devonshire - he had trouble with showing emotions, obsessively played with his dogs, rarely socialized, and if he did, he was "awkward"
Stanley Kubrick - was obsessive in his film making, had a special interest (Napoleon), didn't know when to stop talking or take turns
Nikola Tesla - had sensory sensitivities, often obsessed about things like numbers, very reclusive

Film/TV characters:
I don't want to do the normal ones sooo...
Annie Leonhardt (Attack on Titan/Shingeki No Kyojin) - trouble showing emotion, often withdraws, stims
Johannes Cabal (Johannes Cabal book series) - trouble showing emotion, stims, sensory sensitivities/undersensitive, bad at socializing, mimics
Alan Blunt (Stormbreaker book series) - stims, bad at socializing, trouble showing emotion,

Sheldon Cooper, BBT.

Sheldon is a caricature of Asperger's.

Not necessarily. He could be a severe case who have most of the traits possible.

Sheldon is so "over the top," though.

I've many "nerds" on TV. I really don't see much "autism" there, though.

Of course, this is merely one opinion of many.

I'm sure many other people have a totally different perspective than mine, and different sorts of experience/knowledge.

Lisa Simpson {The Simpsons}

Kind of a cheat because he's based on a real person, but The Social Network's portrayal of Mark Zucherberg screams "on the spectrum" to me.

In the Fargo series, one of the characters has a kid with strange habits (EX: peeing in bottles and hiding them around the house), the father casually mentions "We think he's...autistic, or something".

Father of the Year, Robin William's bizarrely anti-social son is a high possibility of Aspergers, along with other mood disorders.

And of course, I'm sure this character was discussed to death on here when the movie first came out, but there's been a lot of talk about how Dave Bautista's highly literal character in Guardians of the Galaxy is quite possibly the first autistic superhero.

Really, you could argue a case for just about any weirdly quiet or literal character.

Also, on the issue of Sheldon, the creators claim he isn't, but he's such an obvious caricature. If you watch that show without the laugh track, it turns from a decent (if fairly mindless) comedy into a weirdly dark drama about a high-functioning autistic man slowly losing his grip on reality. I hate to include him, but I think we have to. On that same tangent, Steve Urkel from Family Matters.

OH. I forgot about Andy Kaufman's character from that old sitcom Taxi. In all fairness, that may have been more Kaufman himself than the character.

Tina from Bob's Burgers. She has the centric interests and the monotone voice and the social anxiety that makes her relatable.

The one thing I really wish to see however, is an ASD character who actually has stims and isn't portrayed as just some quirky super nerd. I've yet to see this anywhere however.

I feel Lisa, from the Simpsons, is a "conventional" nerdy type.

Spock is half-Vulcan; within his planet; he would be known as somebody who is unnaturally emotional.

Stewey, to me, is not a Spectrumite. He reminds me of some kids I knew in high school--sarcastic, skeptical, dismissive. But not autistic.

I don't know who Rogers, from American Dad, is.

I still feel Sheldon is a caricaturized Aspie.

I haven't seen the show wish Alex consults on.

To this day, I've never seen an autistic character on TV.

Also, Wednesday Addams

She's obsessed with the Bermuda Triangle, has a monotone voice and troubles with expressing emotions, and takes things literally ("Is it made with real girl scouts?")
