The same kind Casey Casem had----second, only to Alzheimer's. It's not rare----it affects nearly a million and a half people in the U.S., alone. It shares some characteristics with Alzheimer's and Parkinson's.

A friend of his said he had seen him about a month before his death, and that: "You could tell he was not all there".

So very, very sad.....

I just heard it on "The Today Show". The results of Robin's autopsy has just come-out, and they had a doctor, on there, explaining all about it.

Link, please? Also, what was the alleged doctor's name?

If Mr. Williams was an actual patient of his, then Mr. Williams' heirs stand to make a lot of money from a "Breach of Confidentiality" lawsuit.

Chances are that this alleged doctor of yours never personally examined Mr. Williams, and is only trying for some free publicity.

Here is one. It's vague, but the news is everywhere. Don't know where the report is from.

Uhh ... maybe Jessica Firger at CBS News? (Hint: Look at the top of the page.)

Nowhere in the article does it state that Robin Williams was diagnosed with Lewy Body Dementia.

This is called "Bait-And-Switch" journalism -- lead with the name of a famous person, and then follow up with an unrelated issue.

However, This Link cites unreliable sources "connected to the actor's family" as "evidence" that Mr. Williams had the condition.

The fact that they gave their story to TMZ instead of a reputable news organization hints at the unreliability of those sources -- did you know that TMZ pays for "hot tips" (e.g., gosssip) on celebrities? Pay enough money, and people will say anything.

That people still fall for this nonsense is a tragedy unto itself.

He was overwhelmed and killed himself that is the tragedy to me.

But I suppose news media are frustrating as there's often errors.

Fnord, I wish more people questioned the sources of things like you do. It seems whenever I do that to anyone, they see me as stirring things or putting them down. It pisses me off to no end, because innocent people can sometimes get accused of something just because one person said so. Group think pisses me off, especially when they get all hypocritical and start accusing everyone else of being, "sheeple".

Rant over.

Here's the link to the video of today's segment:

http://www.today.com/video/today/56409552

I don't remember the doctor's name (and I can't watch the video cuz I still have Dial-up Internet). I'm pretty sure he wasn't Robin's doctor, and had never examined him. I took it that Robin's autopsy said he had it, and "The Today Show" just called-in a doctor to explain to the audience about the condition.

Maybe, if someone could watch the video that I posted, and let us know, better, what the doctor said?

/\ /\ If it was on TV, it must be true.

ouch, some of these comments. maybe they didn't intend to come across so aggressive, but it is possible to correct people without being rude.

i've seen your posts before OP, i like you, you always seem pretty chill and nice. :flower: sorry some people were a little testy in this thread. i think their intentions were good, and i agree with questioning sources, but these replies put a bad taste in my mouth.

It looks like CNN has picked up on this. Let's hope they perform a more thorough vetting process than those gossip-mongers at TMZ.

Well ... some of us like to see links and references to the original source material, rather than just a declaration without citation.

That the news first broke on TMZ immediately casts doubt on its veracity; but if it turns out to be true, then it is still something of an "intrusion" into the life of a much beloved (and now dead) actor and comedian.

I understand. I did not mean to make "a declaration". I meant, merely, to pass-on some news that I had just heard. I thought, maybe, that the problem with my OP was that I said it so matter-of-factly ("a declaration"), which is a shame, really, because I HATE it when other people do that, and always make sure to post when I have different information, and I take such great care, when I post..... Usually. I rushed on here and posted the information because I was afraid I would forget what had been said. Thankyou, at least, for giving me the opportunity to quote my source.

I had no idea that the news first broke on TMZ----but, remember.... They first broke the news about Michael Jackson's death, and that turned-out to be true. Alot of other things they've reported have turned-out to be true, as well----that's why, IMO, all the other news organizations have begun to quote them.

I have now read reports on CBS news, and Fox news. Fox news said they had obtained the autopsy report, I think it was, and they said it showed that he had these "Lewy Bodies".

As for "intrusion"..... What if the news helps someone? Like, what if someone finds-out they have this type of dementia, and learns more about it----what can be done to keep them comfortable, maybe? I don't feel it's being done, distastefully.

It's a pity: if he did indeed have Lewy-Body Dementia, he got it at too young an age!
