I have been watching the X files on Amazon for a while and I kind of breezed through seasons 1-7 but I kind of can't stand season 8. I was originally really hoping to see all of the episodes, but I already hate this Doggett guy and I'm wondering if maybe I should only watch the season 8 finale and The Truth or is it actually worth it to see all of them? I personally also thought that the episode "All Things" was a little wonky and everyone seemed out of character, plus the season 7 finale was much like the season 6 finale of Bones if you know what I mean. The rest of that season was okay though.

Yeah, I didn't like Doggett either. My mother always said "he's too cut & dried" and she was right!

I'm working my way through the seasons too. I'm nearly at the end of Season 2.

I had such a crush on Mulder back in the X-Files era. If I was Scully I wouldn't have been able to keep my hands off of him

Sorry not more help!

The Doggett character was clearly meant to represent the by-the-book kind of government worker who everyone has experienced at the post office or the DMV. Doggett comes to realize that he really doesn't know what he believes he knows. He questions his superiors' knowledge and intentions. I found the character necessary and refreshing when the Mulder, Skully, Skinner and other characters had evolved from skeptics to believers.

the way i see the truth behind the 9th season. they didnt explain what happens next. the movies were from the middle of the seasons. episode truth was very lame. supersoldier? the wise man saying the end was 2012. they are just a dead series now. oh well.

personaly prefered series six back in the day,but now am able to apreciate it even more knowing that one of series six best episodes [apart from the ending which was cut to short] was written by vince gilligan [AKA creator of breaking bad] and starred brian cranston ['walter white'/'heisenberg' in breaking bad]-its the episode that earned brian his role on BB as like everyone else the casting director originaly judged him on 'malcom in the middle' and thought he was to much of a joke until vince showed him that xfiles episode [the drive].

I really liked the last two seasons. The series really started to decline in quality around season seven and the addition of new characters livened things up. I liked Doggett, both for the reasons AspieUtah listed and because I think Robert Patrick is a bad-ass actor. There were also some really solid drama/action episodes in seasons 8 & 9, whereas towards the end of Duchovny's run, it just started becoming goofier and more comedic. The "X-Cops" and "Hollywood A.D." episodes were hitting rock bottom.

I was really disappointed that the second movie didn't even mention Doggett & Reyes.
