This thread is for the amateur film critics on WP.

I think it is an excellent hobby for me. I love watching movies. I love writing. My skills on the keyboard are a million times better than my abysmal verbal skills. I enjoy putting what I write on the Internet and getting constructive criticism. I am satisfied that the reviews I write today are a lot better in terms of the writing than the ones I wrote a couple of years ago. I enjoy improving my craft.

So, I am wondering if anybody else here feels the same way.

I consider my critical writing to be an extension of my personality. It's pretty far from being the most important thing in my life, but it is an excellent activity for me to partake in.

I used to write reviews on IMdb until I lost my sign in info. I still write the occasional review on Rotten Tomatoes.

Everything you wrote above applies to me as well. However I mostly do compact bitching about movies on Facebook. There are a couple of DVD reviews I did on Amazon. Every day I think about registering an IMDB account but other things take my attention.

I also keep thinking of having a Youtube movie review channel... but that would require a kind of time commitment I don't have.

Where do you write reviews?

I have my own little vanity website, www.kickasscritics.com , that I launched about four months ago. My pen name is Master Christopher.

The plural nature of the URL was intentional. When the website was being formed, a couple of my friends committed to writing for it alongside me. Then they backed out after the URL had already been paid for. Lovely. It happens sometimes.

I don't have the best writing out there, but it is always improving. I'm doing it mainly for fun, anyway.

That might have something to do with the comma that was at the end of my URL in my post above. It's been fixed now. The grammatical incorrectness doesn't look pretty, but at least the link works.

Sometimes, I write movie reviews for the Catholic newspaper, much to the annoyance of the newspaper's editor.

I've written a few reviews myself, and I even have my own blog where I post reviews (though there's only one review up there, and it's from four months ago). Discussing movies is one of my hobbies.

My daughter Samantha, who has a Master of Film degree from University of Kent in Canterbury England, will be reviewing Autism related movies for Autism Awareness month.

Check in with Sammy and get a review from someone on the Autistic Spectrum.

I used to write reviews, sometimes on sites, but more often just as a bit of a hobby. I usually feel the need to write one when I see a particularly harsh critique of a film I like, or a particularly flattering one of a film that was so-so at most.

I write movie reviews as a hobby and post them on my website, Amazon and IMDb. I could even do it for a living.

Maybe.
