Anyone else watch live TV via Roku?
For over a year now I've used high speed internet to "cut the cable" and watch live streaming TV on a Roku box. I can get live channels from all over the world and can discover programmes that I might have otherwise missed using traditional methods. Of course I still have the rooftop aerial for local content as well as a backup in case of an internet outage.
For those unfamiliar with Roku boxes, here's what they look like...
They now also have a streaming "stick" similar to what Google sells.

I have a Roku and use it for Amazon and Netflix. I used it for the relaxation channel a couple times to listen to those nature sounds while going to sleep, at least I think that was the app I used. It was free. I haven't really given much thought to what else they have on it. We used to use the Playstation but it was old and it would make so much noise with that fan and it was really slow. My daughter and her fiance bought a new tv with the Roku built in so they gave us their old one. Then I went and bought one for an old extra tv that the kids used to use for video games and it had been put in a closet. It's one of those old, big ones from the early 90's. The kind with the built in videotape player lol. I put it in my bedroom and bought a cheap $90 Roku for it and now I lay in my bed and watch tv.
How do you watch live tv on it? Tell me what to do and what I might be able to get and I'll go give it a shot. Is it free? If not how much is it? I can't afford cable right now and even if I could I have an old unpaid bill with them so they won't give me cable even if I paid it. They would want a huge deposit and they won't take a prepay Visa, they want you to have a real one and we have absolutely no credit at all.
So tell me how this is done please.

I recommend the ChannelPear app for Roku. Their website is http://www.channelpear.com. There's a message board that should contain tutorials as to how to set it up. My username on that site is strapshoechris if you need help. They have a free subscription that allows you to select up to 50 live channels and a also yearly premium option to go beyond that.
I would also check out FilmOn and NowhereTV for some stations not on ChannelPear.
In addition ABC, CBS, CNN, and skyNEWS all have 24/7 live news streams.
Examples of what premium status might get you:
