Since I've had regular access to tv, I've been watching as much reality tv as I can get my hands on - as well as a great source of human stupidity (I love laughing at stupid people), it's been really valuable NT data because:

- They stylize the interactions with editing, so you get exaggerated, clean examples of things.

- They show the important clips like 3 times so you realize something important happened and can really study them.

- The 'stars' constantly turn up on 'diary-cam' etc explaining how they felt and what their intentions were.

I keep track of common motives and intentions, and match facial expressions to diary-cam's "Yeah I guess I was totally jealous" etc.

I cannot stand the Amazing Race, I'm not sure why, but I'll watch anything else from The Bachelor to Border Control.

Does anyone else find this kind of thing useful?

It's really smart that you're using reality TV to help you learn things about NTs. Maybe I should start doing that, too. My therapist said I should learn more social skills anyway...

I started watching "America's Next Top Model" to check out how to make the face and pose look natural. I also started watching some other reality shows on VH1 and the TV hours just build and build watching this has been celebrity or that has been rocker find true love by wading through petty games and even more petty egos.

it's my entire social life. . .and when I really want to kick it up a notch, I watch Chef Gordon Ramsey ream another chef's dreams of adequacy.

Top Model and Hell's Kitchen make a complete mockery of human social interaction. If you behaved like Ramsay on a daily basis, you'd be pretty unemployed, pretty quick. And possibly with people sending you death-threats on a daily basis. I'd like for Chef Gordon to be stripped naked, filleted, soaked in lemon juice, then nailed to a cross atop a mountain of filthy pots & pans. Televised and broadcast live, of course.

You're absolutely right, but I guess I have enough natural talent to figure out that his behaviour is causing the participants to flip out and argue back - not exactly what I'm aiming for.. when it comes to preditcing the 'Ramsey's' of my world though it can still be insightful.. Tyra is a fascinating person, I'm still not quite sure what to make of her, but I'm working on it.
