So, let's be honest. Most movies based on video games have turned out to be crap. The reason for this, in my opinion, is because most movie directors who try to adapt video games into movies think that they're clever and try to change the story and character for the adaptation so significantly that it becomes absolutely unrecognisable to the original source material. Often, the say it's creative freedom or that they want to appeal to the game's current fan base but it never works. Whenever they approach it in this manner, not only does the movie usually become absolute rubbish to the general audience but get's panned the fans of the game too because it deviates too much from the source material. This has been the case for every single bad video game movie that I know of. When Sam Raimi was doing the Warcraft adaptation, I thought his version of the Warcraft movie was going this way too, because is story synopsis was doing this as well of course, but then he withdrew from the project and when Duncan Jones took over, he went back to the original plan of making the movie an adaptation of the Warcraft 1 story (an adaptation of the first Warcraft game that came out in 1994). As expected this avoids the usual mistakes made by video game adaptations and I think it payed off as the first trailer shows. The trailer was first shown at Blizzcon last night and is now on youtube:

I think that this could be the first non-crap video game movie in a long time. At least it has an actual plot and it's plot is faithful to the lore, so fans of the original RTS games and of World of Warcraft can be happy too. Do you guys agree?

IMO, it's going to be a great, epic movie or a piece of crap. Also, it's directed by the same director who directed Source Code and Moon, so perhaps both? :?

Well, probably not the latter. I think that this will be good.

We get to see Lothar, Blackhand, Gul'dan, Medivh, Khadger, Grom Hellscream, Duraton, Orgrim Doomhammer, King Llane and his son. Garona, too.

I hope we see Stormwind Keep and Black Rock Spire, too.

We'll also see Draka (Durotan's wife), Thrall (as a baby) and possibly Nher'Zhul as an orc shaman before he became the first Lich King (if you freeze the trailer at 1 minute, that looks like him to me).

Right, Durotan is Thrall's father. Ner'zhul is spelled with one 'H'.

Hey, what about the Dark Portal? I would think we get to see that.
