Hey.

Does anyone here on Wrong Planet know how to apply for work as an extra? I've put a profile on Universal Extras, which is a professional agency and every job is paid work. Sadly, I lost out on a few jobs several months ago as they took an eternity to approve my profile. They were not approving it at the time because my photos were not meeting their satisfaction. Either they had that annoying time stamp or they were not in focus. Then by the time they got everything activated, the job listings had expired.

Well, I still sign in to check for any jobs, but there ain't anything for extras just now. I've also been on StarNow. One annoying issue is you need to upgrade from a standard to an subscribed member to apply to jobs and many of the advertisers seem fake to me, as I then Google their projects and it would seem fishy to me if it were only being listed there and nowhere else, giving the "major" aspects of what they post.

Certain other websites are a waste of time. They too may want a fee and some like Fame Street and Casting Now are stupid as you can search for jobs in your town, but it has 'all' as a location and most of the adverts seem outdated. Heck, if I want to work in Edinburgh only, that's why I'll place a search for jobs in Edinburgh, not London.

you might want to check for local Sag affiliated agencies. Try the SAG website to find them. I have been signed up with a couple local agencies near me. and the one has given me great success--and as soon as I get enough money, I'm joining SAG....

Well, it's going to be hard finding work as an extra now with the court removing my rights to have anything with online access after tomorrow. That's not to say I would not be able to get back into the swing of things at a later date, but I'm sort of retiring now from web-forums and it's for the best anyhow. If you knew why, you would agree.

You are retiring from web forums? Why's that? Is there no piece of information left about yourself which you haven't already shared?

In LA, most extra work is from Central Casting. Not sure about other cities though.

I have not gained any jobs yet with Universal Extras and they accepted my registration fee last May. I've heard the staff are rude.

What SAG ones are in Scotland? I'm on StarNow. But I had to register again after this scumbag deleted me, claiming I violated some rules when he was just at it.

A basic membership may be cheap on StarNow, but it is relatively pointless because you must upgrade to respond to job listings anyway.

Universal Extras is £30 for 2 years and the jobs they advertise rarely ask for extras. It is more so to do with main roles and they have not had much for Edinburgh. Of course, I do not browse other cities. I'm still not convinced they are up to much.
