What movies do you think should be remade?

IMO, the following should be remade:

Psycho
{Although the show Bates Motel is a big hit on the A&E channel, I think enough time has passed that the 1998 version has been long forgotten.}

The Maltese Falcon
{I'm not sure who would be perfect as Sam Spade, but a new movie or a TV miniseries would be great for those not familiar with the book and/or the original movie.}

Christine
{Despite the 2013 remake of Carrie being poorly received, a remake of the 1983 version about a car that kills people should be more closer in line with the book.}

This may seem weird, but how about Rudolph if it isn't already re-made?

I am Legend, is something that's never been adapted properly. The most important thing is to get the ending right.

I'm not a personality type that's usually drawn to remakes. I don't crave a nostalgia fix from entertainment. Reasons people seem to be enjoying this horrible trend are probably related to future shock and the reactionary instinct that can emerge as a response to hard times. I don't have contempt for audiences who cave to this security blanket. I get it. I just wish they wouldn't as much. It's making films bad.

In today's film industry, a remake is a glaring neon sign that a movie is awful and a cynical cash grab. Cinema is a business first, and must be, but today it's usually treated as just a business, and not at all like an artistic endeavor. I would hope that audiences someday begin to reject that so that great movies are profitable and higher budgets can once again be devoted more to interesting and original film making by real artists.

The Last Man on Earth got it right in sort of a condensed, "hurry up, we gotta finish this so the running time doesn't go over 90 minutes" way. It's a model example of faithful adaptations compared to the later films.

THEY LIVE: Why not, every other John Carpenter movie has been remade or is in talks for production. I think the timing is good as it depicts the frustrations of wealth inequality and feeling like the economy is rigged. Or that our leaders are total sellouts. Image

Agreed. I think that movie is boring, though, and it no way captures the grandeur of that scene as it was originally written.

This might be a minority opinion, but I liked The Omega Man, best of the three.

A politically-correct, non-racist version of A Birth of A Nation.

Just make it to prove that it can be made.

I personally hated the original, and am making bad jokes about it as a result of how horrible of a film it is.

The Postman
It's a film that I like a lot, but apparently it was a "major critical and commercial failure". I think it deserves a second chance.

Dear OP...

Psycho? The maltese falcon??

I can see why people would want bad films with good stories remade, or a new film from a source that has been made into a bad film before- but the films above are masterpieces.
How could a remake improve on Hitchcock?

Also: "Triumph of the will" needs a remake made entirely with sock puppets.

The 1998 version of Psycho was nothing more than a piece of crap! {Seriously, shot by shot? That's not an original way to film a movie.}

However, a way for a remake of Psycho to work is for whoever would direct is to use the same idea that was used for the movie Disturbia, which was a "re-telling" of another Hitchcock movie, the movie called
Rear Window.

O.K. Here are some remakes that I think should happen.

Fantastic 4: Fox should just give up the rights to these movies to Marvel/Disney so that they can give it the proper treatment. Hopefully, the bombing that was the latest movie should mean that Marvel should be getting the rights back relatively soon.

Ghost Rider: Now I did enjoy the first movie, but purposefully avoided Spirit of Vengeance because of how terrible it looked. Now that Marvel has gotten the rights to Ghost Rider back, even though Kevin Feige announced that there are currently no plans for a Ghost Rider reboot, I would be interested to see Marvel possibly doing one come Phase 4. In fact, a friend of mine posted an article about half a year ago, sharing what he thought would make a good post-credits scene for Avengers: Infinity War - Part 2 shown here http://moviepilot.com/posts/3285405?lt_ ... l%2Cmanual and, if that were to actually happen, I could see it as a good way to introduce Ghost Rider into the Avengers. But maybe that's just me.

It's good that Fox will eventually give the film rights to the Fantastic 4 back to Marvel, but Fox has done a relatively good job with the X-Men franchise, so IMO, if Fox starts acting paranoid about how Marvel will handle future Fantastic Four movies on its own, it wouldn't surprise me at all if Fox keeps refusing to hand the film rights back to Marvel.

Also, Marvel should compromise with Universal regarding future Incredible Hulk movies in the same way it did with Sony and Spider-Man.

Would you still recommend live action for it?

A modern remake of the 1941 movie Sergeant York.
Get a competent writer, director, and technical advisers along with a good cast and it could be an awesome movie.
