The Daily Show, translation help

Hey, I'm sure some of you guys like to watch the Daily Show here (I've heard at least it's very popular in the US). I love to watch it in any case, but I have some understanding problems sometimes, like this word "clusterf***" (as in their "clusterf*** to the White House" segment), what does that mean exactly? Do people actually use that word in daily life or is it a made-up word by the show? Thanks for the enlightenment in advance already
