Towards the end of "Into Darkness" does Spock jr. attempt a forced mind meld with Kahn?

Don't Vulcan's consider a mind meld comparable to sex? 8O

A forced mind meld is an assault. However, forcing a mind meld to gain information that would save others is the logical thing to do. After all, the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few ... or the one!

Based on Kahn's reaction I don't think he was probing for information but pain.

Poor Spock Jr. was of course enraged.

Forced mind melds induce pain. This is why priests of IDIC forbade it.

The original Spock also engaged in a forcible mind-meld-interrogation of Valeris in "The Undiscovered Country":

The circumstances were impending war and an imminent assassination of the Federation president.

Indeed but dang a sexual assault of sorts?

I never imaged Spock as being able to experience that kind of rage.

It is considered a highly intimate experience. However starting from the episode in TOS where it was first used, it has been used as interrogation/intelligence gathering tool. So there is a bit of a contradiction there. I could understand a Vulcan who is an operative of lets say Section 31 using it in such a way, but I would think that other Vulcans would only do such a thing in highly exceptional circumstances.

Now to make a comparison with Babylon 5, Earthgov has rules in place on when telepathic scans (and a mind meld could be considered such a thing)may be used to protect citizens privacy, however I am not aware if the Federation has similar laws on the book. And you would think with all those species who are capable of such things there would at least be a debate on the issue. But then again then we would not have 'ambassador' Troi just telling everyone's embarrassing thoughts in public.

soo. spock now tortures, too.
I got used to dascist batman torturing, but spock?

so, in this case, we have fictitious torture that bypasses the "does torture even work?" question, and that makes it justifiable? and the fact that the logical, moral figure of apock does it automatically makes it right, right? we are supposed to expect, if HE does it, it must be okay?

I thought the introduction of the mind meld-as-something-sexually-deviant was silly and a low point of Enterprise.
