Anyone else think Steven Spielberg's 1993 blockbuster film 'Jurassic Park' is by far one of the best films ever made?
I reckon many will disagree, but that isn't expected, but surely I am not the only one for whom this film tops the list. It even beats strong contenders such as the Back To The Future Trilogy, the Star Wars Saga, the Terminator (and its many timeline revisions), Jaws and Independence Day. Those are just a few, won't go into listing more favourites but right there at the top is Jurassic Park.
It is almost as old as I am, but I feel it hasn't let down after all this time. There were a few mistakes in the filming, which to be honest, only people like me would probably notice them. To name a few, a few of the dinosaur names in the embryonics lab are misspelled, the jeeps that pick up the visitors to the island are clearly stopped in the wide shot of the chopper descending (and then they appear to reverse up to the helipad). How Hammond emerges from the helicopter first despite where he is sat, for continuity, the first one to exit the chopper should have been Doctor Alan Grant. But hey, no film is without a few errors.
Some people say "where did that cliff come from, the one Rexy pushed the tour car over?" and my answer is simple- Rexy broke out at the corner of her paddock, which was directly between the two cars. To the right of the second car would have been the paddock, but to the right of the first car was the drop (which I can only assume drops into the Brachiosaurus Paddock- I'm like that, I like to know where everything is). If you look closely, you can see the trees from the enclosure in the shot looking up at the upturned car being pushed closer towards the edge, you attention is focused upwards, but if you look to the left and up, away from the activity, you can see the trees. Her paddock must have been on higher ground (I'd of thought since she was the ruler of the island it would make sense for her paddock to be the one at the highest elevation, so her roars are carried by the winds...).
There is a video on YouTube called 'Everything Wrong With Jurassic Park' by CinemaSins (and compared to many other videos I've watched from that channel, this film does well, doesn't rank too high). It is only a few minutes long, but it does cover what I have mentioned. I could probably give a logical explanation for a few of the goofs, but some are just plain old mistakes, such as the spelling of the dinosaur names.
But despite the few errors, this film will probably always be one of my all-time favourites. Whenever it is on ITV on a Saturday afternoon around tea time, I'm there.
Top class film and a rewarding novel, pacing is everything and strong ch's no matter how few scenes they have. I love Muldoon more in the novel. I can see a bit more of the novel in jurassic world actually (horrible film that one, three was mediocre, two was average). I find the silence between the rex's footsteps the funniest part, like were its legs a hundred feet between or something or was it just attempting to sneak up on them in a ludicrous way?? I have also read about the cliff being in 'the wrong place' before too but figured it was a gigantic enclosure anyway.

In the novel, Muldoon killed a raptor with a rocket launcher, and in Jurassic World, Charlie (I think it was Charlie) was blown to bits by a RPG from an unseen shooter, I used to joke to myself it was the 'Spirit of Muldoon'. I didn't mind two that much, nowhere near as strong as the original, but Spielberg saved it from being a disaster. I like TLW despite what many people say, the raptors in the tall grass, the Buck Tyrannosaurus rampage through San Diego, and the new dinosaurs like Stegosaurus which I wish were seen in the first film.
JP3 was terrible. The story was so weak. I honestly think I could have written it better. I imagine Rexy was merely treading slowly, suppose it wouldn't have been as tense if the impact tremors were frequently heavy. I will have to have a look at the map for Isla Nublar as I'm sure the Tyrannosaurus Paddock was next to the Brachiosaurs (could probably just watch the film and look at the screen when it is warning them the power is offline).
A final note, I wanted to see the Metriacanthosaurus, the princess of the island, as maybe an alternate to the T-Rex. I also wonder what became of the Troodon and the Herrerasaurs after the incident, maybe they died out before Jurassic World was even proposed, hunted down and/or killed.
