my heart was heavy with the badness of "Night at the Museum"....yeah the computer animation was great...but gads...one should only expect to have to suspend one's disbelief for so long...I just finished watching it a few minutes ago......
How does the mess magicly get cleaned up evey morning?
How can it be that this has been going on for 50 years and only the night guards know?
It's a MUSEUM for crying out loud!! !
No Alarm systems? No cameras? These windows that are so easy to open a monkey can do it..with no bars...um....and Ben Stiller NEVER sleeps...he finishes his shift....goes and does stuff..and goes back to work...There were serious serious problems with this movie...
The only thing i remotely liked about it was the sorta thing between the cowboy and the roman soldier...they made Brokeback Mountain reference when they were letting the air out of the tires and after they made friends they were always together (wink wink nudge nudge)...SOOOOOOOOOO much badness...I am still processing....i think I would have problems with this movie even if I was a kid..I would feel like my intelligence was being insulted....

anywhoo that is my take on that one...the end.

Well that's disappointing. I was looking forward to renting it soon. Bummer. Seems they don't make good movies anymore.

The best renter recently out is one called Ancient Relic. Ok its dubbed in English but still good and gives you something to think about. Action, time travel, religion, more action.

It looks completely horrible from the previews. I don't plan on ever watching it, not once. It's amazing how well it did at the theaters...

It's too predictable. Here's a math proof I made about it:

30-something divorcee w/ son|Given
Divorcee is failure at life | If divorcee, then failure
Has no job | If failure, then no job
Needs job badly |If no job, then needs one badly
Wants to impress son |If needs job, then is clearly lacking in fathership department
Gets cool job |Wants to impress son, then gets cool job
Mickey Rooney shows up | If cool job, then Mickey Rooney shows up
Monkey does weird stuff |If Mickey Rooney shows up, then monkey does weird stuff :)
Failure gets mad |Audience is more upset with failure at this point than monkey

The Law of Detachment spirals into oblivion from that point, ending with:

Happily ever after. |If crappy kids' movie, then happily ever after

ONE night at the museum with all those creatures running wild would have the place irreparably damaged....but 50 YEARS?????
NIght after Night....with NOONE FINDING OUT?? :? :? :? :? :?
Mickey Rooney is starting to remind me of some post-human creature....and I am disturbed by Dick Van Dyke playing a bad guy....

Of course none of those things could happen! It's a movie, not real life! That's what movies do -- take you away from real life for a while. While, admittedly, some are more realistic than others, I thought "Night at the Museum" was great on a pure entertainment level. I especially liked the fact that my AS son, who gets extremely anxious in a movie theater, laughed like I hadn't seen him laugh in ages. To me, a movie isn't necessarily about how realistic it is; but rather, about how well it entertains you - which is what it is designed to do. TV is full of realism - I go to movies to escape. I respect that others may not feel the same way, but I, for one enjoyed it.

I couldn't have put it better. I loved the "Night at the Museum" but I love that kind of movie. I watch movies to escape so I like funny and action. However, some of your questions are important. I have always wanted to know where did the people in Star Wars go to the bathroom, because I never was a restroom or toilet. So poopylungstuffing, I understand what you are saying because I have been there before.

I found the "Night at the Museum" to be funny and great. Plus, you should the read the picture book that it was based on. However, I like this kind of humor which I know most people don't like.

as LKONATNZ says, it's based on a children's book.

I liked the movie, made me laugh a lot :)

I think in the end it just depends on what you find funny. Some of my favorite films don't make much logical sense, and some of them aren't supposed to.

I just didn't find anything in the trailers funny so I don't expect to find the rest of the movie funny, either.

that movie looked like it could be funny in the same way that ice age was funny

but the inconsincities would make the movie unenjoyable to me
but i did enjoy the aqua teen movie even thought it was completely lacking in a coherent plot or anything one would normally find in a movie

it was like they animated whatever they were thinking of at the moment
coming from anyone else it would have been horrible
