Sex Education — concerning Lily

If you've seen all or part of this program, you should probably know which character is Lily. So I have seen on Reddit that some people think she is meant to be on the spectrum. Does anyone agree? If true, then I can understand why the writers apparently intend her to be seen as a joke.
The following is probably a spoiler:

So the joke is that she approaches dudes she knows only by reputation and propositions them. The problem I have with this is that, in actuality, she seems the only character willing to admit to their basic physical desires, whereas everybody else must always approach it from the POV that they want to be in a relationship. Whereas Maeve does in fact engage in casual sex (for a time) but it's OK for her to do so because she can have a relationship whenever she wants, whereas Lily, who is plain and a misfit, must be laughed at because she wants the exact same thing. Where the plot lost me is when she propositions Otis and it's made clear to the viewer that he has no intention of indulging her. Whereas, were I in his place, I would do so without hesitation (as I in fact did the few times in my life I was directly propositioned). And I would hope to do more with her than just the nasty, as she seems an interesting person to me (if not to the writers).
Of course, it really looks to me as though Otis and Maeve are meant to be together, although she is actually the least attractive female character (in that age group) to me.

Well I guess that turned into a rant, but any thoughts?
