I have to spoil the movie, so I am giving a warning.

SPOILERS

Why did the family not want to seem to accept that the imposter was not there son. They wanted to stop the FBI and authorities from collecting blood and DNA samples, but why? Were they so convinced their son had returned home? The woman in the movie who was investigating the case, even called the sister to tell her but the sister and the sister seemed to accept it over the phone, but then in person, denied the whole thing later on, when the imposer was present. Why did they behave this way do you think?

It was insinuated by some of the real people, including the imposter himself, that the family actually killed their son, but then accepted him as a decoy to cover it up. But this explanation does not seem logical to me, cause that is just a recipe for disaster that is going to get all kinds of questions answered. And once the media gets a hold of the case and it becomes well known, the family still wants to accept that he is the son, thereby causing more suspicion and more investigation.

So it wouldn't make sense for the family to accept a decoy therefore. So what would be the real reason why the family was in denial and did not want to hear the truth from the authorities and give them the DNA, do you think?
