Building Up a Strong Character, According to Floraptor
You probably have heard the news, whether it's from YouTube reviewers, Discord memes or someone who hates themselves told you: the new Mulan SUCKS.
I get it.
Let me help you.
First off, let me explain the Golden Trio themselves, Harry, Ron and Hermione. None of them started off as all-powerful wizards who could defeat Voldemort using "expelliarmus". Not even Hermione. They WORKED and TRAINED and STRUGGLED, for seven years, until they could finally win the war.
Another example is in Nickelodeon's Airbender. Aang was just a clueless child who had no idea how to control his Avatar skills. By the end of the third season, he could master all four elements with ease and save the world. Throughout the course of the series, he WORKED, TRAINED and STRUGGLED.
I could go on for hours, but you get the idea.
No one is naturally born strong. This is the point of the absolutely superior animated Mulan film. Just like Harry and Aang, Mulan had no idea how to be strong in the real way (Steven Universe reference), and she became a hero at the end. You need to build up the strength until she comes on top.
The Mulan that everyone says sucks? I know I'm the millionth person to say this, but she is almost the Disney equivalent to Bella Swan. It's almost as if Disney was like "Hey, Captain Marvel was popular, let's make some more female protagonists that just to happen to be born strong!"
You get my point. What do you think?
