It's gotten to where lately I don't watch anything on TV anymore except Mystery Science Theater 3000. I love this show even though my Mom thinks it's annoying and stupid. Just a guy and his two robot pals making fun of the worst low budget movies imaginable...

But you know why I'd rather watch THESE movies over today's pretentious Hollywood movies and shows? Because they're so mind-numbingly stupid that they help distract me from all the political crap going on today. And I don't feel like I'm having a political agenda being shoved down my throat whenever I want to watch TV.

And the jokes on the show are pretty funny. :jester:

I used to love the show when it played on - I think - SYFY. I laughed my head off.

I love MST3K! I agree that it's basically pretty stupid but the show more or less acknowledges this. Even the theme music has it making fun of itself: "If you're wondering how he eats and breathes, and other science facts, then repeat to yourself 'It's just a show, I should really just relax'"
Honestly it's been a great way of getting through some unbearably awful movies. And they do provide funny or thoughtful commentary.
Watching them critique bad movies has kind of made me appreciate good movies more--and even some of the bad movies have weirdly good parts to them

That show is great, did you see the more recent reboot? It was kind of short lived, but still pretty good..but yeah so I have been looking into more of the older ones and the jokes really are funny. Interestingly some don't seem so out of place with what is going on now...but of course all of this was not going on then on this scale then.

But yeah mystery science theater is great, maybe one of the greatest things of all time.

I haven't watched it much, but my dad is a huge fan.

I remember when it was on Comedy Central.
