Percy Jackson and Harry Potter
Ok so I am so bored and no one in my house is into harry potter and percy jackson like I am. So I have heard that the percy jackson series may be made in to a tv show. I am hoping it's better then the movies. The reason why the fourth Harry Potter book was longer than almost all the other ones. It was because J.K. Rowling had finished the book but then realized there was a huge plot hole so she had to fill in the plot hole. Let the discussion begin.
I am a huge Harry Potter fan. I've watched the films several times and read the book series even more often that I've watched the films. My last read-through was just before Christmas.
I'm not that much into Percy Jackson. I've seen the two films and liked them alright and I read the first book and maybe the second, but I'm not sure. It just didn't seem all that interesting to me - even though I used to be a lot into Greek mythology when I was younger. I would watch the TV series, if they indeed make one.
I didn't know that there was a plothole in the first draft of HP4. But did you really mean HP4? Because it's about the same length as HP6 and 7. Order of the Phoenix (HP5) is by far the longest one.
I am a fan of Percy Jackson and I'm waiting for the final book to come out for The Trials Of Apollo. I was a little disappointed at first with The Trials Of Apollo but I started to enjoy it by the time I reached the third book of that particular series. I loved the Heroes Of Olympus. Whereas the first series was hit and miss, but I enjoyed it enough to also read some of the additional short story collections.
Looking forward to the TV series. I hated the films but I am feeling more hopeful about the TV series as the author seems to have more creative control over the direction this time compared to the films. Enjoyed some of Rick Riordan's other series as well; I preferred Magnus Chase over the Kane Chronicles but I like both. Haven't read any of the crossovers, but I probably will at some point.
I'm also a fan of Harry Potter. For a while I used to think I was a Slytherin, but I've come to the conclusion that I'd probably be a Ravenclaw instead. I've taken the Pottermore quiz about twenty or so times. Plus, I even made a chart to measure the results. I was playing a Harry Potter computer game earlier.
Personally, I prefer Percy Jackson over Harry Potter but I like both. Apparently I'd be a child of Apollo if I were a demigod according to the official quiz.

Fifth part - "HP and Order of the Phoenix" is the longest book in the series. But more interesting for me Half-Blood Prince.
What with Harry Potter being an alternate version of Luke Skywalker, it is somewhat surprising that anyone who likes both would also be interested in Percy Jackson. While there are similarities between all three, only the first two seem closely related.

That's an interesting take. I've seen videos where people have talked about how Percy Jackson and Harry Potter differ as characters. This was a response to a critic of the Percy Jackson musical. He said that the character of Percy Jackson was basically a copy of Harry Potter. The fans did not like that. I personally disagree with the critic's take, since although the two characters share some similarities, I think that they're distinct enough to be considered their own characters rather than a copy. Personally I can relate more to Percy than I can to Harry (although relatability or lack thereof does not determine if a character is good or bad). I find Percy more compelling (sorry Harry fans).
Percy Jackson as a series takes itself less seriously than Harry Potter does. Harry Potter comes across as a mystery story with a focus on fantasy worldbuilding. Percy Jackson reads more like a comic, it has a faster pace with more humour. There's also more focus on the characters, whereas Harry Potter tends to focus more on the underlying societal issues of the magical world. Percy Jackson offered more insight into the psychological impact that the events had on the characters. Oh, and it has actual representation instead of just shoehorning it in at the end.
I've heard people joke that Percy Jackson fans are just Harry Potter fans, but I definitely prefer Percy Jackson over Harry Potter. There are elements of Harry Potter I like, but I prefer the writing style of Percy Jackson. I prefer the quicker paced action, whereas when I was reading Harry Potter it always felt slower. Likewise, I prefer Artemis Fowl over Harry Potter for similar reasons. Artemis Fowl has way more in common with Percy Jackson than it does with Harry Potter.
