Random thought ~

Does anyone else feel a kind of connection with cartoons as if they are more relatable than ordinary Films and TV shows?

I am the complete opposite in that I may enjoy short fun cartoons like the Road Runner, but as I spend a lot of time masking somewhat, I am always trying to get to be the "Real "ME"", and it feels like I am not sure who the real me is at times.
The cartoon world makes me feel more like masking so it grinds on me. When I was in school and we had to do acting it was the same. I just was not comfortable acting and I never wanted to put myself on the spot.
I am ok at public speaking but ever so nurvous before the event, but when I start to talk, I can carry on and do it which kind of contradicts because I tend to be shy and nurvous. But not acting! As soon as I have to play a pretend part I run a mile.
Cartoons are like a whole pretend world and I am not keen to watch a cartoon type film. I can watch other people act in non cartoon forms, and my youngest brother is so tallented and natural at immitating other people that he would make a natural actor... But he won't do it outside of his family or friends.

It is strange. I feel "Hemmed in and claustrophobic" while watching cartoon like films. Yet things like Tom And Jerry do not pretend to be like the real world so I can watch them ok. Strange eh?

I think mainstream cartoons are exaggerated portrays of reality - that is why there is a novelty behind cartoons - the animator is trying to portray an irony and the clichés of the modern world - and some cartoon networks I don't trust, children TV used to scare me - I've always emphasised with animals and books more than people and TV - I always found people and TV's kind of overwhelming - I am with MG on this that I like to stay pure and be the real me, and this just happens to be that I am 'naturally' schizoid/AS since childhood - I myself am an animator though - I like to make characters and animate them and am working on 'cognitive dream animation/cartoon' - two people meet in a dream and learn how to dream travel together - each episode containing animated real dreams from dream diary - so will be bizarre for all the right reasons - because dreams are naturally - can be bizarre!

Here is a nice animation cartoon -

It is a crow near a pond - I imagine in a Phycadelic utopia/dream world.

Animated characters are often more exaggerated in how they act over live action. While a real life person might use certain subtle facial expressions, which I think can be missed by people on the spectrum, animated characters can be much more obvious in what they feeling, which people who have a difficulty picking up subtle live action faces can be easier to connect with.

I like cartoons/anime a lot more than live-action shows/movies. I admire how much effort goes into the art, sound effects, etc., and like other people have said the expressions characters make are easy to recognize. I just think they're more relatable and entertaining to me.

I’m in my 20s and my parents say I’m too old but I don’t care. I watch the amazing world of gumball, adventure time and the new adventure time series which I loved Marcys song btw. My favorite cartoons are Bojack Horseman, Daria, Amazing World of Gumball (the humor in that show is amazing). I watched a few episodes of Close Enough I feel like that show has potential but I’m not 100 percent sold on it yet. I like miraculous ladybug, shera, Steven Universe. I can go on forever. To answer you question absolutely I feel more connected to cartoons than to real people. I’ll watch shows with real people but I much prefer cartoons.

It's much better to understand and fun some stories and relate with characters, not to mention a fun way to remember it through humorous drawn things. There are different colors. Look at these handsome eels

Yes, I find the characters easier to understand. I watch a lot of anime, I don't really like American animation shows. I find the art to be visually unappealing. Movies from Pixar and DreamWorks are good and few other exceptions for western animation.

But I love the colors and art in Japanese anime. And the expressions are more exaggerated so easier to get, like others have said. I definitely find watching anime more relaxing than live action.

Cartoons don't seem as bland and fake. It's like the characters have spirit and msot cartoons turn into good ways. I prefer cartoons to be honest.

I think it's the fact that they're more imaginative. You don't have to worry about budgets because the only limits are your imagination.

Yeah, she's my favorite anime character. I'm known as Radical Edward on the Amino app.

Yes. She is a lot of fun. I was sad when she left the bebop with ein. They were both my favorite characters in the show

cartoons make heavy things lighter and easier to digest.
