Oh that's a good one! I really enjoyed it too.

For me I'd say The Fall with Lee Pace not to be confused with the mini series the fall. The scenery is gorgeous in it.

Kaili Blues
The Nine Lives of Tomas Katz
Ballad of Narayama (1983)
Onibaba
Caterpillar
Muxmaeusschenstill
....

I mean... basically, if you leave American cinema behind, it's all great films more or less no one has ever heard of

Recent:

Anna and the Apocalypse [2017] a fun Scottish, Christmas Horror, Zombie Comedy, Musical

Not Recent:

The World, the Flesh and the Devil [1959] the trailers do not do the film justice

Some other good flicks:
- A Town Called Panic [2009] French but available in English, plus related shorts (sample short)
- Juan of the Dead [2011] A fun Cuban zombie comedy (trailer)

And shlaifu is smiling because these are from Scotland, France, and Cuba (and the 1950s).

You're totally right. I watch a lot of Korean movies and shows. I didn't even think to include those. I'll have to check out some of your suggestions.

My favorite Korean movie is The Man From Nowhere.

I have a few that are on my PC that are good:

Kolja - set in Czech Republic just before the dissolution of the Soviet bloc - a lovely movie
Lad - A Yorkshire Story - beautiful UK movie
Hachiko Monogatami
(1987) - the original Japanese movie, not the US one with Richard Gere

Also:

The Stranger (1973) - a made for TV sci-fi movie with an interesting plot

"Ambivalence" -- A film we made in video production class one summer back in the late 1970s.

It was a parody of "Deliverance" (1972), and featured four guys on a canoe trip down the Kalamazoo River in Michigan.  As their trip progressed, various scenes of criminal activity, lewd and indecent behavior, space alien invasions, and zombies chasing pigs (lots of grunts and squeals) were played out along the riverbank while the canoeists blandly observed the goings-on and commented on how warm their beer was getting.

Anything I could watch with a 11 year old boy, a 20 year old boy, a 19 year old girl and my wife and me?

:D

Some of these seem most suitable for a midnight show at a drive-in or a college campus.

Anna and the Apocalypse rated "R"
The World, the Flesh and the Devil iffy, not rated but probably not for an 11-year old
A Town Called Panic "TV-PG"...but audience must tolerate insanity
Juan of the Dead probably "R", or very near

How does your family do with 50s Sci-Fi films?

Neverwas is a really good movie for all ages. It has good life lessons in it and it's a good story. And it has Ian McKellen in it!

I also think Secondhand Lions is a really good family movie. Its funny and also has a good message. It's got Michael Caine and Robert Duvall in it.
