30 Days (*braf*)
yes, I meant to spell it *braf* in the topic title, no comment please.
Anyway, a homosexual couple at our church has been selected for the next episode of this TV show named 30 Days. It airs on FX or whatever, and from my point of view the purpose of it is just to create drama. They put a über-opposed to anything homosexual guy in their house for 30 days who is fully opposed to anything to do with gay marriage, gay people in general, etc.
When they came to our church (twice!) to film, they obviously didn't know what a church service was supposed to be like. I adamantly opposed to sign a contract and sat in the "Unsigned Section", which they had a camera on anyway, while everyone else was herded right around this family by the film crew to make it look like everyone loved them, while the über-opposed guy sat all the way in the back with no one around him, as if the church were rejecting him altogether (which would have never happened, if you know anything about the United Church of Christ denomination).
The fun starts here:
Film Crew: "CUT! We need to go back and do that prayer again, I didn't get a good camera angle on the family"
Film Crew: "CUT! Baby crying" (yeah, that happens in our church like all the time. Deal with it. They cut and had to go back again like 17 times because of this too, and they started trying to make people leave because of it.)
Film Crew: "CUT! Some little brat ran into the camera" (ok that's just a recipie for disaster, calling someone's child a "little brat")
Film Crew: "CUT! One of the cameras isn't recording:
etc. etc.
Damn. I will never go on TV. Did these people even realize that this is a CHURCH SERVICE, not a TV set? People come there to worship.
I wonder if they'll even show more than like 5 seconds of church footage in the final episode.
