I am anxious to see this film. Other people want to see Harry Potter (which I thought was good) more than anything this year, but I want to see Captain America more than anything right now. I'm just afraid it will suck like Green Lantern did. I know Green Lantern has absolutly nothing to do with Cap but I was excited to see it and when the reviews were pouring in, it got me worried and I shouldn't get my hopes up for Cap. Also the film is directed by Joe Johnston, who has directed a few bad movies over the years. His last film was The Wolfman which I haven't seen, but I hear it is bad. He has directed some good movies like Honey I Shrunk the Kids, Jumanji and The Rocketeer, which I have never properly seen but hear it is very underrated. But I guess it won't just be up to him. The people behind Iron Man and Thor are working on this film as these films do share the same universe.

You're a Brit who'd rather see Captain America? Cool.

Cap was the first Marvel superhero I was ever into, and so I am really excited for it. I think it looks great....you can see some clips here if you have doubts: http://www.superherohype.com/news/artic ... st-avenger

It looks terrific in the trailers, which you couldn't say about Green Lantern. I've never even cared about Captain America and I want to see it. As for Johnston, I've often felt like he was better than the material he was directing. He's clearly very talented, but there's only so much you can do with Jurassic Park III. The Rocketeer, however, is one of the better comic book movies. I wouldn't worry – it'll be surprising if it bombs.

You have pretty good reasons to be concerned. The trailer looks crappy. I think "Capitan America" is going to suck. I am not planning on watching Harry Potter. I could barely stand the last one. I am so sick of bad movies. Transformers 3 was plain painful.

I absolutely plan to see Captain America.
Any movie with Hugo Weaving as the Red Skull has to be great.

This is probably the movie I've wanted to see the most this year, besides the Sherlock Holmes sequel. I've liked the trailers I've seen so far. I think I may even splurge and watch it on IMAX 3-D.

If you're really worried about how the movie will turn out, you should track down and find the horrible version they made back in the 90s. It was so bad it kept Marvel from making movies for over a decade. Watch that movie and even if Captain America: The First Avenger sucks it will be a cinematic masterpiece in comparison.

I remember that should-have-been-an-abortion unfortunately all too well.

I've never actually seen that movie but I've seen The Nostalgia Critics review of it so many times. I love the heil hitler scene.

Even though Potter will probably take next weekend, I wouldn't be so quick to write off CA:TFA if it doesn't win the top spot. If it fares well with critics and does partially respectable at the box office, then we should be in good shape.

Besides, it's Paramount's fault, not the filmmakers, that they decided to schedule the release the weekend after the opening of the most anticipated film of the year.

I still think Cap can take the number #1 spot. Harry Potter had a BIG drop-off from Friday to Saturday, indicating most people saw it on opening day.

Over at ComicMix.com, there are four recently-released film clips from the movie. Check out the first clip - they have definitely captured why Steve Rogers was tapped for the Super-Soldier Program (sergeant tosses a dummy grenade into a group of exercising recruits, yells, "Grenade!"; everyone scatters, except scrawny Rogers, who jumps on the grenade and screams at people to get away).

Definitely looking forward to this one - I might even go into a theater to see it! (As the price of a ticket climbs, it becomes more and more difficult to justify. For $15, I can see a two-hour movie, and have a drink and maybe a snack - or I can have a month of Gold membership at Champions Online.)
