Does anyone find themselves watching a show just to see one of the characters? I'm almost blind to the other people in shows when someone grabs my attention.

Alan Shore on Boston Legal
Ross and Monica on Friends
Alison and Bridgett on Medium
Chiana on Farscape
Dana on The L Word

The only reason I watch TV at all is just to see and hear my favorite characters.

I often have to get a little obsessed over a particular character before I'm really interested in the story. Then it's true -- I have to know everything I can about that character.

Alan Shore was one for me too (a bit) He's very interesting and morally ambiguous, also on "The Practice"

Also I like (or liked -- this is not necessarily present tense) ...

Dr. Bashir from Star Trek DS9
Grimma from Terry Pratchett's "Nome" series
Jigen Daisuke from Lupin III
WPC Datta from The Bill
...And Cassandra from the Trojan War stories. (Doesn't have to be TV stuff, does it?)

Don't ask me why for any of those because I don't know. All I can think of at the moment, past and present.

Of course I can also get little short term obsessions without any particular regard for any of the characters. Like I like X-Men. A lot. And some characters more than others but I can't think of any particular one. (Make sense?)

Addison was the only reason I was watching Grey's Anatomy at first, but now the other characters have grown to me and I like them as well. I keep watching because of Izzy and George, though.

Spock was only in one series! The original Star Trek, of course!

I started watching Death Note just for L, but to my surprise I'm finding myself getting attached to Ryuk.
