Back when I was a young impressionable college student working on a major in computer animation (a field with which I have become utterly disgusted, and no longer seriously pursue), I had a concept development instructor who would often show movies as part of his class. One of the movies he showed was Bay's movie The Island, which he said he showed as a lesson in plot development.
Seriously. He showed a Michael Bay movie to teach us about plot development. Which is kind of like listening to Rebecca Black for any reason other than to strip the paint off of your walls or to induce vomiting.
Needless to say, the instructor did not return the next year.
