conjoined twins and panda bears

What do these two things have in common? They are the darling of the news industry. A panda bear cannot even fart without it getting covered by the news media, and if there are any conjoined twins anywhere in the world, I pity that family because they will have news camers following them around every second of the day!

Why are these two topic so gripping that they will even supercede other news stories?

Well I suppose that Pandas are pratically extinct...
And everybody loves them...
At least lots of people do...
like me...
