I remember watching Lord of the Rings "The Two Towers" for the first time with my dad and I said man Aragorn sure likes Eowyn alot in the 2nd movie and then my dad said no he loves Arwen the elf lady from the first one and I was like WHAT WHY? I got so confused I didn't even believe him then i saw the third one and i was like dang im so stupid how can I not see this stuff ahead of time :|

anyone ever get totally confused like that and hard to pick up cues is in love triangles an stuff in movies/shows or in real life?

i don't think your impression was so silly; its her that's in ( unrequited) love with him, but his awareness of her heavy love for him is in some ways like when in love with someone, a heightened consciousness of the other. It's subtle, and even in the book there's a certain intensity about his reaction to her, because of his compassion for her plight of sidelined woman in the war, that could almost think he might fall for her.
It's only if know of pure plighted troth with Arwen that could be sure not so. And i think we're so unused to pure plighted troths in real life being binding things that tendency is to think can discount that previous bit of story.

the term "plighted troth" just means "mutual consent"

Thank you for that translation. It sounds like something's wrong with a trough.

"Why aren't ya feedin' the pigs?"
"Can't! The trough's plighted!!"

Sorry; i think it was that in the context of "men" and "elves" in the lord of the rings my language unconsciously went all flowery!!

With ref to confusion about peoples intent, etc in films i'm actually the kind of annoying person who knows what everybody is going to do for almost the entire film. I'm much much better at this in films than real life, which might partly explain why i love films so much.

Piece of advice: Never go on Harry Potter fanfiction sites. You'll go insane from confusion. XD

Myself, I never get confused by such things unless the confusion is intentional. I like the "who likes who" drama! XD Partly because I like watching the fangirls debate about it in the message boards for series like Harry Potter. "Harry will get with Hermione and that is final!" "BS! JKR said H+H shippers were delusional! Hermy will get with Ron!" "I think Harry and CHO will get back together!" "What about Harry and Draco?" "...Okay, I take that back. The H+M shippers are the REALLY delusional ones!"
