If there were a marathon of both of these shows, which one would you watch?

Wheel of Fortune has got really bad puzzle answers, I'd watch the older seasons. Otherwise, I'll stick with Jeopardy.

I guess you could say Jeopardy! is turning into "The David Madden Show." In the distant future, if there were a marathon with most of his shows featured, it would get very boring.

By the way, I decided to put this poll in a separate thread because I am asking a separate question. I think that's fair enough.

I'd probably have to say Jeopardy!, unless it was an older (pre-1996 or so) season of Wheel against a newer season of Jeopardy!

Tom:

Jeopardy! is a game show that was hosted by Paul Ross in the UK, and still is hosted by Alex Trebek in the US. It has a huge board with answers on it, and you have to buzz in and supply the question.

For example, if an answer was, "This website maintained by Alex Plank and Dan Grover is a web community for discussion by people with Asperger's Syndrome," you would say, "What is Wrongplanet?"

Now, there are three rounds in the game, Jeopardy!, Double Jeopardy!, and Final Jeopardy!. If you forget to phrase your answer in the form of a question in the Jeopardy! round, that's ok, but if you do so in the Double Jeopardy round, you are penalized.

It's a classic format that is still going strong in the US. If you are confused by the format, please let me know. The poll question was just random.

Jeopardy requires the ability to respond to cultural trivia questions. Wheel of Fortune requires the ability to fill in spaces and see a whole. I am good at both (I bet a lot of us are), but I find the former to be more satisfying.

I don't like the new twist on Jeopardy with the champion going on and on. Ken got really boring and obnoxious last year, and I stopped watching. I know, however, that that was not what most people did, and that ratings were way up at that time.

So, I guess theywon't be caring what I think.

David Madden is a lot different from Ken Jennings, Litguy. I think most people find him slightly more tolerable.

I learn some really interesting stuff on Jeopardy. It's more entertaining to me than Wheel of Fortune.

I'm amused but not surprised by the current 9-0 jeapoardy leanings of the poll. Jeapoardy has much less of an element of chance; the only variables besides your own skill and presence of mind (not counting if you get sick or something like that) are the questions themselves and the other contestants. In wheel of fortune there are tons more varaibles, and even though you can win more money, you're not nearly as in control.

Plus, Jeapoardy is much gee-, uh, more intellectual.

:D

Byt he way, an earlier American version of Jeopardy ran from 1964 - 65 on the NBC network and was hosted by an Art Fleming.

It was pretty identical to the current version.

I agree. But, I still prefer the old format of a maximum of five days and rotating champions. As I said, the ratings belie my viewopint (Gee, most people don't agree with me. There's a shock for an AS, huh), but I think that a dynasty, if it goes on too long, becomes boring in this case.

Yes, Litguy, there was an older version of Jeopardy! with Art Fleming. It was identical to the current version, only the dollar amounts were lower. I've actually seen Art Fleming's last show. That is hard to believe since I'm only 18.

Well, I'm 56. I remember it pretty vividly.
