Just bought the Futurama boxset and I have to say that it reaffirms my belief that Bender is in the Top 5, if not Number 1 Best Cartoon Characters of all time. He just elevates the entire show to another level and is a total scene stealer.

Please insert girder.

PS Before everyone starts going, no such and such and Homer are the Best Cartoon Characters etc, ad infinitum, this is Bender/Futurama thread. If there is a debate over who is the best cartoon character, start a new thread please.

I'd have to say that my favourite episodes of Futurama are Roswell That Ends Well where they go back to Roswell in 1947, A Big Pile of Garbage that is about to hit the Earth and The Problem With Popplers.

I'm so glad Futurama is back on free to air TV again, I'm really enjoying it.

Anyway, I do own seasons 1-6 of The Simpsons, and it's cool to see them in full, being that channel 10 edits many episodes nowadays (especially season 1, which they don't show at all anymore).

yes I was amazed as to how much basic stuff was cut out of what was shown on channel 10 as well. I'm a bit dissapointed though that they changed the boxset to the shape of the characters heads for Season 6+

What the box looks like doesn't matter, it's the content of the DVD. Channel 10 chops out a fair bit of stuff in Itchy & Scratchy Land.

I just dislike it when DVD distributors purposefully do stuff like that. That's why we have DVDs that have been re-released repeatedly, the X-Files boxset was a similar scenario with them quickly releasing individual DVD sets, then cardboard boxsets such that you could only mostly get 7,8,9 in the cardboard boxset, then they rereleased them on season disc sets and all are thin except for season 2 and its the only one to have features. I expect another rereleased. I assume the simpsons will be heads for Seasons 6-10 and then they'll change again.

I just wish Fox would make new episodes of Futurama, it was only on air for like 4 or 5 seasons, and cancelled about 4 years ago or so. I dunno why either, its a good show. And i would love to see it on the air again rather than the reruns they have on the cartoon channel.

Yes I agree, I think it was killed off for ratings reasons, but I think it probably has the potential to come back, due to its universal nature. I mean, in the episodes, they could do anything and go anywhere, so I'm sure there's enough plots to go on for another five years. The last episode intro says "See you on another channel..." at the start, but it won't happen now. We can only dream and think of what might have been.

I would seriously have to slap some one who hasn't bothered to sit down and watch Futurama at least once.... And don't slap me if I get the title of this episode wrong but "The Devils Hands are Idle Play things" is the best episode and so poetic this series personally is far better than the Simpsons in my mind. So subtle and so gloriously underated heres to hoping they bring it back if the films are produced and become popular their repeating it on TEN here during the summer maybe to whip up a frenzie and new lots of fans apparently according to all TV news Ten is doing much better with it than 7 did with it.

Mainly because their not pushing it into a major late spot like 11:30 like seven did with the last few seasons at 11:30 or 10:30 no one got the chance to see it that late . So more people who like the simpsons have time to discover its charms when it heirs at 8.

I want FUTURAMA BACK and I so hope they make some films top give the franchise a good kick in the backside+ you get away with much more on a film than you can on tv so they could make Bender Ruder, Louder, More obseniant than he allready is true 3D Futurama :D .
