What is wrong with the History Channel? They used to be so cool, running actual documentaries about actual historical events. I have fond memories of round-the-clock Nazi coverage and the untold stories of the Macedonians.

When did the History Channel start sucking? When did they start obsessing over the paranormal (Monster Quest, That Stupid Nostra-dumb-us Thing They Have On An Endless Loop Right Now)? When did they start turning into the Discovery Channel (The Universe, Life After People)? And when did they stop running the Nazi documentaries (I NEED MY HITLER FIX!8O)?? Are they forgetting their audience- nerds who like war? Or what?

Reality Television has already infected the TLC and Discovery networks and most of the privious channels that are used to be educational and arts based. Reality-genre programing is so much cheaper than regular programing (even garden variety documentaries) that they rather do more reality-based programs than before! Even though people would rather see REAL programing that they used to produced, the problem with television in America is that they program what they think will generate big ratings, not what they actually find out what people want.

Another channel that erks me is sci-fi..Since when is "pro" wrestling got anything to do with science fiction/?

There is a show on the search for atlantis on national geographic channel right now...They are talking about grand structures(built 1000 years before egypt) of an island called Malta....and little elephants too.

I'm kinda liking the direction CourtTV went becoming TruTV. They have some sweet programing.

history channel have to start getting some good docos.
as for DC i like mythbusters and some of the crime shows.

I've never really liked the documentaries the History Channel puts out that I've seen. There's often too much pro American bias and not enough neutrality for my liking.

I don't like Cartoon Network's current lineup of shows, though that could just be because I'm older.

I still like them. At least round here, they still show good stuff.

Not into the WW2 docos myself (more classical, medieval / renaissance -- or at a pinch, 19th century) so I suppose I'm the opposite. I always despair a little around ANZAC day &c. when there's practically nothing but 20th Century war docos.

I like the MonsterQuest show, it is kind of funny, but I miss the documentaries. Since we have Tivo, I can tape the ones that are on at 5am, which is nice. I agree with TheFace about Mythbusters, it's getting boring. Discovery Channel has a new show, SmashLab, that is about testing new technology in interesting ways. They built a shed with carbon-wrapped beams to see if it would hold up to a tornado or hurricane, it didn't, but it was cool. I like Man vs. Wild, Bear is fun to watch. Wrestling on the Sci-Fi channel is just sad.
