According to the AP:

COLUMBIA, S.C. - The movie "Brokeback Mountain" hasn't made it to a lot of South Carolina theaters, but the film's distributor said that isn't because of the movie's controversial content.

The movie tells the stories of two cowboys who have an affair, then go their separate ways, eventually marrying and having children while repressing their feelings for each other.

The film's distributor, Focus Features, is deliberately releasing "Brokeback Mountain" slowly.

Currently theaters in just two cities - Greenville and Charleston - are showing the film in South Carolina. A theater in Columbia is expected to begin showing the movie Friday.

In Anderson, managers of two theaters are waiting to see if the distributor will release the film to them.

The Golden Globe nominated film has received critical praise since it opened five weeks ago.

Hi Ladysmokeater,

First, congratulations to you for being a firefighter -- y'all are my heroes!

Second, there is indeed a BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN thread here -- which I started! Just search this "Television and Entertainment" forum and you'll find it. I posted a number of beautifully written reviews and reflections on this film, which deserves every last bit of praise it has received.
