Name all the movies you can think of in which one or more of the characters (preferably the main characters) has Aspergers.

One of the lesser known ones is...."The Eagle nd the Shark" and no, I didn't just mix up my anials..it's better then ozart and the Whale in some ways...sure was funny.

I'm really looking forward to seeing The one mentioned on the Home page under"news"...go check out the preview clips.

There are a lot of other movie sthat I think have aspie characters that don't mention AS...Like American Splendor.

Does it have to be films where AS is specifically mentioned, ones where you think the characters have AS, or one you think might appeal especially to people with AS?

I'll assume you mean films that appeal to those with AS, so here I go:

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind

Amelie

Lars and the Real Girl

Donnie Darko

None of these specifically mention AS, but have characters that are socially isolated and struggle to relate to other people.

I would like to make a suggestion - "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory". I think Willy Wonka in that film would qualify as having AS. I can be wrong, though.

Actually, I believe Joon's characteristics are meant to be representational of the state of having a mental illness- not simply tied down to one. That's why she is never given a diagnosis within the script. In my opinion, a much better way of dealing with the issue than simply stereotyping a particular disorder if the screenwriter is not personally experienced with it.

Another lesser-known one is "A Dangerous Woman" starring Debra Winger. In the book it's based on, the main character Martha Horgan is clearly Aspie or HFA, though no diagnosis is ever given (in fact since the book came out in about 1990, no one wold have known what AS was anyway.)

Unfortunately in the movie, Winger portrays Martha as more developmentally delayed or mentally ret*d than autistic, or at least that's what a lot of the people who saw it and reviewed in on IMDb seemed to think Martha was. However, in the book it's made clear that Martha has normal intelligence.
