Who would have made a particularly bad Janeway? For a minute I thought you were referring to Erin Grey the stripper/single mom in Striptease.

Scott Bakula was the perfect choice to precede Captain Kirk, IMO. He's a good Kirk for our era.

Yeah, I never forgave UPN for pulling the plug on Enterprise. I felt vindicated when that channel went away and the WB took them over (CW).

I haven't seen a lot of Trek lately. I've watched about every episode of TNG, but I can't really get into Voyager or Enterprise.

I remember a few casting details from the Star Trek shows. James Earl Jones was originally considered to play Commander Sisko on DS9. Siddig el Fadil originally auditioned for Sisko as well - the producers thought he was too young, but they liked him so he was cast as Dr. Bashir. I think Tim Russ originally auditioned for Geordi La Forge on TNG. Before Denise Crosby got the role of Tasha Yar, the character was called Macha Hernandez and was played by Marina Sirtis - with Crosby playing Troi.
