I've been craving for a new magical girl anime for a while now. While Magic Knight Rayearth was satisfying by blending the magical girl genre with the mecha genre, I still need another one. However, I do have some conditions.

1. It HAS to have a dub on DVD. I refuse to watch it subbed and/or on the internet.

2. The dub must not have any edits.

3. The above conditions basically rule out Sailor Moon (at least for the time being), Cardcaptor Sakura, and Tokyo Mew Mew. Not that I dislike them or anything.

Besides that, just recommend any other magical girl anime that you think is good.

Thank you for your time. :D

If you are that closed minded you'll miss 99% of everything...

if you open up, check Dennou Coil

I'm not closed minded. I just prefer to watch anime dubbed.

And I looked up that anime. It looks interesting enough, but since it was made pretty recently, I'll wait till it gets dubbed.

All the dubbed magical girl anime I know of have edits to them. However, if you're willing to watch internet subs, I recommend the original Pretty Cure, which you can watch on Hulu or Funimation's video portal.

Have you seen Ah! My Goddess, it is a pretty popular series series about a nice guy with bad luck suddenly has a "goddess" (like an angel) appear to him and says she will grant one wish. And he half jokeingly says for her to be his girlfriend. It is pretty good, especially when they introduce her sisters, and with some good comedy.

And if that is not your cup of tea, I might say Shakugan no Shana, it is quite popular, I guess it could fit towards being magical girl, though it tends to get quite dark. By that I mean she uses a sword, pretty contriversial scenes (one enemy were demon twins that look like kids keep kissing each other) and a fate worse then death.

Though if you want to check out some anime that you will not see otherwise, by looking at online subs. I might recomend some parodies of the genre: Magical Witch Punie-chan and Bludgeoning Angel Dokuro-chan.
Also the series A Certain Scientific Railgun is hot topic right now, and is a spin off of A Certain Magical Index, though Railgun as you can tell is about science, it may fit in the genre as their ESPer powers are practicly magic.

Yes. I love that anime. But it's not considered a magical girl anime. It's actually a magical girlfriend anime.

I'll admit that I've set my standards a little high, but that also makes this topic a bit challenging.

Here's hoping, Dennou Coil is a pretty good series, and is one of the largely under-rated series, there are scores of people hoping it get's a Western release, and there is a lot of confusion of why it gets ignored so much. I got it recomended to me on this site when I was asking for something that would not make me depressed, and I guess captures the heart of a child, and how technology effects the curent generations. It is interesting as starts out as about child life, turns to a lot of mysteries and as the series goes gets darker, and good story. I always remember the infectious beard.

I don't know if it counts, but I remember liking an anime called "Read or Die" about a girl who is obsessed with books and has the ability to control paper, making it into a rope, a giant paper airplane, etc. She works for a secret library organization. It's a little lighter than what I'd normally watch, but I liked it. I think I've only seen one episode in the series, though. It's the first one that came to mind.

May I inquire as to why you prefer dubs over subs?

Mostly because I prefer it in English. There are times when I will watch subs (such as Gojira and Ronin Warriors), but I hate having to watch subbed series all the time. Also, I just love dub acting for some reason. There's just something about dub actors such as Christopher Sabat, Wendee Lee, Steve Blum, Dan Green, Sean Schemmel, Amanda Winn-Lee, Tiffany Grant, Yuri Lowenthal, Johnny Young Bosch, and many others that is just appealing to me.

However, the biggest factor to me is not if it has a dub (even though I personally prefer it), but if it's released on DVD where I'm at. I feel the need to support my hobby, and pirated copies and fansubs on the internet just aren't going to cut it. Also, the overall audio and visual quality is better on DVD.

I hope that answers you're question.

I just found your desire for dubs over subs to be interesting because most anime fans, myself included, prefer subs over dubs. I just feel you can't beat the original Japanese version; plus, something said in the original version (dialogue, sounds, etc.) may sound awesome in Japanese, but when translated into English, it just sounds awkward.

I don't know if it counts, but a series I recently got into was one called Negima, well there are two series with alternate retelling: Negima! and Negima!?. It is about 10 year old Negi from Wales is a Wizrd, and to complete his training needs to become a teacher in a girls school Japan, and he must hide his secret, his secret gets found out quite quickly by some. And the class is not exactly normal, Negima!? has them one by one kind of becoming his magical protector, though are pretty extra ordinary already, while Negima! exemplifies each ones traits, without necesarily turning them into magical protector.

The girls range from robot to vampire to ninja to samurai to secretly being a net idol.

Is it really that awkward that I like dubs?

I actually am thinking about checking out the Negima series. I've heard good and bad things about the anime, but I want to check it out for myself.
