Don't know if should post here or in Computer etc forum.

I found OVGuide ( Online Video Guide) today, and discovered that apparently with the right browser stuff etc I can watch masses of films online legally and for free.

With new laptop bought a month ago which has better graphics card and bigger memory, and our pretty good internet connection it seems to be possible to watch films, hundreds of them, in "streaming".

But the films start freezing after 5-10 minutes, and firefox, graboid and other stuff keeps being advertised to solve the problem.

So, what I would really like is some advice about ; what do I really need in order to watch films online without interruption/hiccups; which packages/browser boosters or whatever are the best; how much, if anything, that costs; and whether the choice and service is really as good as it looks; ie: is it as free as they claim to see whole films?

Please help! I saw the first 7-8 minutes of V for Vendetta before it started freezing on me, over and over so gave up. :x :(

:study:

ovguide has a nice selection of porn video sites. That's the only reason I use it

what you should do is let the video you are trying to watch load first.....click on it to play, then once it starts to load, click on pause...and let it keep loading without you watching it, open a new browser tab and do something else online for a couple minutes.

This lets the video load enough that you arent watching it faster than it can load.

There is no program that I know of, or browser, that will make a difference as long as you have the memory and space on your computer.

Hope this helps.

Thank you very much.

Unfortunately I had already inadvertently followed those instructions with Vendetta because I paused it almost immediately to go and say goodnight to my son; I came back and pressed play and it began the repeated freezing four or five minutes later. the other two films I tried I didn't do that with, but as I say pausing for 5 minutes with V didn't make any difference. :(

Why do they keep pushing these browser boosters etc then if they don't make any difference? It quite explicity says on one site, right next to the select/load-streaming button ; "If the movie freezes, or get blank screen, install firefox". :?:

:? :(

It's an advertisement for Firefox. They pay big bucks to try to convert people away from Internet Explorer. I dont advocate either browser, it's just competition.

And sometimes, no matter what you do, a movie is bad. No amount of playing around with it will make it run smoothly. This is a sad fact, but thankfully its rare that it happens.

In the case of V, are you able to download it? I know on alot of streaming sites there is also the option of downloading it to your computer. That might help with the jerkiness of the video. I know that defeats the whole concept of watching streaming video, but at least you would get to see the movie you want.

Get firefox.
Most of those videos work better with it.
Also, I didn't know OVguide had porn!
Sweet!
