I was watching "Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me" last night, and the last 20 minutes nearly moved me to tears.
I got all tingly, and it was like an orgasm resonating throughout my body.
I went to bed feeling amazing.
It was like an intense high.
I get this every time I watch American Beauty as well.
I have actually cried out of sheer happiness during that film.

Does this happen to anyone else?
Is it just my obsession with film and extreme vulnerability to strong emotions?
I'd love some responses.

I experienced a similar phenomenon while watching the first Hellsing Ultimate DVD: after the fight between Alexander Anderson and Alucard, I was sweating and my hands were shaking, and I was on an emotional high.

I think that I'm somehow more prone to extreme emotions because of Asperger's...
Of course, I'm also more prone to obsession, which may actually contribute more to this than the former...
I'm a film buff to the extreme.

"Cinegasm"? I believe that I understand. Yes. But it's not exclusive to movies. It happens in front of any medium, be it book, music, or other. The game Okami gave me several.
I sometimes can't hold the tears back.

I once experienced this when reading about the origin of the word "knife", and instinctively paralelled its fonetical history to that of the word "knight".

Yes I had a similar experience when I was a lot younger and watched Debbie does Dallas.

Hahahahahahah Debbie Does Dallas!
I'm serious here though.
This isn't porn.
This is about films with such amazing aesthetic qualities that it shakes me to my very foundations...

Yeah, sorry, couldnt resist the oppurtunity.
Cannot say I ever got the tingly feelings, but a couple of films move me emotionaly more than life itself, the films being Paris Texas, (the end scenes), and Dancer in the dark, with Buork.

Garden State is another one, especially the scene on top of the crane!

A lot of fantasy movies really make me cry - Big Fish, Edward Scissorhands, and Hook are some examples.

Hell, I can't get through the first five minutes of Thomas and the Magic Railroad without bursting into tears (that one is particularly significant to me, being a major connection to my childhood).

Movies such as Four Minutes and Miracle are very inspiring to me. Even though I know what happened, as these movies depicted events that took place in 1954 and 1980, respectively, I still find watching the movies exciting.

The film Sunshine really, really gets to me. As does Rain Man.
Sunshine makes me cry all the time, it moves me, makes me feel fascinated or depressed. Makes me curious about the universe. You'd understand if you've seen it.
Rain Man, well... That's kinda self-explanatory.

Don't most of David Lynch's films seem to border on soft-core?

Yes. Once when I watched the movie "BraveHeart" and another time when I watched the movie "Independence Day".

The Pillow Book.
Ewen McGregor & Vivian Wu.
...simply incredible, intense.
