The WB I'll always remember fondly. It was the network that launched Buffy and then based its identity around it. It tapped into a teen market long ignored (I happened to be a teen at the time) and was a huge factor in breaking television out of its serialized dominant format. While the teen craze has died down, the storytelling ideas are still rippling outward and making television a better place.

UPN all I really remember is Star Trek's rapid decline, only momentarily arrested by the power of Jeri Ryan's boobs.

Aaaaaah ... Jeri Ryan's boobs. Uuuh, wait a minute. Some of UPN's earlier efforts included Platypus Man (a vehicle for late stand-up comic Richard Jeni), Pig Sty (about five guys sharing an apartment and competing for the hottie female super), and a couple of its UPN Kids weekend cartoons: The Incredible Hulk and Teknoman (an anime series known in Japan as Tekkaman Blade).

Also, UPN gave us WWE Smackdown!

For the WB, Buffy and Angel are two of my favorite TV shows ever. I just love them and am still pissed about Angel's abrupt cancellation. As for the UPN, the only show I watched on there was Veronica Mars; which was brilliant and not nearly as teeny and fluffy as the promos and name make it sound. In fact, it was the complete opposite. Very dark at times, but had witty dialogue similar to Buffy.

I remember a bunch of WB cartoons in the '90s, like Tiny Toons, Animaniacs, Pinky and the Brain, Batman, and Pokemon.

I remember those too. Kind of liked the Arnold pitbull dog.

I also remember Star Trek: Voyager on UPN. It was OK, but it storyline brought back memories of Space: 1999. My wife has been buying Voyager DVDs and I've actually enjoyed them again, especially in surround sound.

I also remember a series on UPN called "Nowhere Man." It was about a photographer who, because of a photo he took, one day found his whole life was erased. Nobody remembered who he was, there were no records of his existence, and he was pursued by some government types who wanted the negatives of the photo. Very strange series, somewhat reminiscent of "The Prisoner." They did end the series though, and the end brought up as many questions as the series itself did.

I forgot about that one. Did that show have an ending? I thought they just cancelled it mid-season. (Digression: I'm a bit upset that NBC decided not to renew the new Bionic Woman series--thanks a lot, writers' strike!)

Anyway, I got another early UPN series: The Sentinel. It was on Space here in Canada a while back.
