Since I don't have a DVR, I use a VCR to record stuff (yeah, I'm kinda an old-fashioned dude).

I haven't used a VCR in years. I download all my TV and put it on an external hard drive. I then connect this to my Xbox 360 and watch the videos files through it. It upscales standard definition stuff so it looks good at 720p.

Oh........

A VCR once ate my pet hamster so I threw it away and got a DVD player which only ate rats. I hate rats. And wasps.

DVR (love the new technology!), going back to a VCR would be less than fun.

am use this:
Image
dont know what it's classed as,but it's a sky plus set top box [Pace] ,it's got a hard drive in it for recording onto.
it's easy to record things on as it's visual based with no need to understand time, and it can record whole series of things with only one button.
only problem am find with them is theyre quite slow, older non recordable sky STBs were never this slow on the EPG.
am want to get the high definition sky STB as are unable to get any high def. through normal sky+ box even though have got a good high def lcd.

never had a VCR.

I record on video only, although I watch/buy both dvds and video tapes.

I recorded things from TV only on VHS, until my VCR died

Last thing I recorded was Yu Yu Hakusho, all episodes.

VCR - it works well enough for me, I can't afford that high-tech crap, and I just plain like older technology.

To be honest, you should've asked "Which video recorder do you use?" Anything with moving images on media that can be understood as moving images is classified as video...
Going into a shop to buy a DVD, I buy 100 DVD's
Going into a shop to buy a video. I still classify anything that can encode any moving images onto media that can be viewed back in the same manner that was recorded as a video recorder.
Watch a DVD or watch a video?

I wonder if anyone else understands what I mean? Don't wanna come across as being excessively pedantic on a minor subject

I understand. VHS and DVD are two media formats but they both display video.

I never said anything about compression, so AVI FTW 8) far more better quality. Oh and for the record, I used to use VCR's but not recorded any videos except when ripping my own videos
