I watched Mozart and the Whale the other day on Youtube - if you search for it there, it is in 10 parts on Youtube.

Who else has seen this film? If you don't know, it is about a romance between two people with Asperger's.

I thought it was a less than realistic portrayal. The lead character - the male half of the couple - was just numbers, numbers, numbers to the max.

I watched it three times... And thought it best to donate to a friend. There doesn't seem to be much on either side. Just seems to show savant ability with numbers from the male character (can't remember his name) What were the female's? Seemed to be one sided

I love that movie. The lead female reminds me of myself so I didn't think it was unrealistic.

I'm like the female lead too, I have similar problems to her. I think the Jerry character was a bit tooooo numbersy, too rainman-y, but I don't know, the messiness seemed aspie.

I loved it, though I found the ending a little corny. The woman in it reminds me a lot of myself.
If I didn't know, I would've found the lead male character unrealistic, but the real-life Aspie he's based on is really like that, so no.

I´ve been curious about this movie, do you guys recommend it then? I was thinking of ordering it from Amazon, as I can´t rent it from where I am. I only saw the preview of it; from the little bit I saw, it seemed a bit overdone, like the characters were overly exaggerated...but I only saw a little bit, so I can´t tell. I was somehow more impressed with the short section I saw of "If You Could Say it in Words", which is posted here on Wrong Planet. Gee, I think that black guy reminds me, in some ways, of me...even though I am a white woman...

I find it realistic, but a bit exaggerated. It's exaggerated on purpose to underline what Asperger's syndrome actually is. In any case, I've never identified more with a fictional character than i did with Donald Morton.
