What's everyone's favourite film of Star Wars? Mine would be Revenge of the Sith and Return of the Jedi :D

For me, Empire is first, followed by a New Hope, and then Return of the Jedi. The prequel films, I thought Sith was the best, then Clones, and then Menace. If I had to rank all 6 films, Sith beats Jedi by a small bit, clones is probably tied with Jedi, and Phantom Menace is way, way behind all of them. In fact, Phantom Menace pretty much proved my theory that George Lucas could make the most god-awful movie imaginable, attach the name "Star Wars" to it and it would still do a box office of hundreds of millions of dollars simply because of the name.

I think Return of the Jedi is probably my favorite. Empire is my least fave.

New Hope, Empire, Jedi. I thought the prequels were mostly crap and an excuse for updated special effects.

Mine is Return of the Jedi, I like A New Hope and The Empire Strikes Back almost as much too. I kind of liked Revenge of the Sith but I don't think the prequels are as good... Except maybe for the epic light saber fights.

I can't believe you brought up the Holiday Special. Even George Lucas said it sucked.

I pretty much like the first ones (IV, V, VI). Episodes I, II, and III were ok.

I've watched all of them except number III. I can't believe all you guys like Empire Strikes Back so much! Here is the order of my favourites:

1. A New Hope (IV)
2. Return of the Jedi (VI)
3. The Phantom Menace (I)
4. Clone Wars (II) (Which is infinitely better than Empire Strikes Back)
5. Empire Strikes Back (V) (Not worth it)

I just like the originals. You know the originals which haven't been 'updated' with those stupid CGI characters. I didn't enjoy the prequels at all. Found them hard to watch. Don't know why.

And for #1: Drum roll please....

1. Knights of the Old Republic (seriously, that game kicked all the movies' asses...)

Heck, KotOR helped me fanwank away that "midichlorian" crap from the prequels. I mean, if midichlorians worked the way they were described, why not cultivate them in a lab, and inject them as needed into various Jedi so you could have an army of Mace Windus and Yodas? Why search haphazardly, in an obviously flawed fashion (Tatooine isn't that far off the starlanes), for people who just happen to house midichlorians?

Well, as we can see from the KotOR games, the Old Republic was an incurious society. In four thousand years, there had been no measurable improvements in any of their technologies - blasters, droids, gravity control, and stardrives all worked the same way during the Jedi Civil War and the Rebellion. I hypothesize, therefore, that some sage amongst the Jedi noticed that their trainees tended to have large infestations of midichlorians, and assumed that the midichlorians were precursors to the Force. Later generations took the "received wisdom" of their predecessors, and never came to the (obvious to me) correct conclusion - that midichlorians are in fact a parasitic life form, feeding on the Force potential of a host. Since all sentient life forms tap into the Force to a certain degree (else Obi-wan never should have been able to feel an entire planet die from lightyears away, while in hyperspace no less, in IV), anyone can house at least a minor colony of midichlorians - they appear to cause no negative effects, but are among the harmless parasites. Thus, they can spread across the Galaxy, at the speed of colonial expansion.

By this hypothesis, one wonders if perhaps some Jedi might have become more powerful if they managed to eliminate their own midichlorian infections...

I was a little miffed by Greedo and I thought the theatrical Jabba looked bad but they've been fixed on DVD (well, not the Greedo bit) but I had absolutely no problems with the Empire Strikes Back when it was redone. I don't particularly go on Jedi's new musical number but ... now.. if given a choice, I'd watch the enhanced versions.
