Layer Cake. But then, that's my favorite movie no matter what, it just happens to be rated R for some... interesting violence and some... slightly excessive language.

Too many to count. I think that pretty much all of my favorite movies are rated R except LoTR trilogy and star wars.

You have to realise, JimmyNeurtonRules, that many people overseas have a different rating system. For example, your 'R' rating is often equivalent to an MA15 rating for Australians. Hell, Terminator 2 is actually M15 here, which, if I remember correctly, is the equivalent of a PG-13 rating in the USA.

The one this phrase is from is the one I just watched:

Actually Event Horizon is NOT a favorite, I just unfortunately saw it yesterday.

Yes, it was "tuteme" and not "vestros" in the movie.

- Hannibal.

I think thats rated R-18 here in NZ.
Thats my all time favourite R rated movie.

Others are...

- The Silence Of The Lambs.
- Full Metal Jacket.

I have lots of favourite movies but wont write anymore down here, as I can't remember if the rest are R rated or not.

Dr. Strangelove came out before the MPAA ratings system was introduced, so it probably wasn't rated.

Also, in the early days of the ratings system, the ratings were:

G, M (predecessor to PG and PG-13), R, and X

PG-13 wasn't introduced until 1984, and X became NC-17 in 1990.

Ok I think there is something wrong here, here in aus R rateing is restricted only to adults, so they are usualy only pornographic movies or movies witha lot of gore like saw. But a lot of you have said movies like Alien, terminator and the fith element, all of wich I think must be MA15+, meaning that, it is considered unsuitable for under 15s, but are alowed to view or but able to do so under supervision of an adult guardian. The only R rated movie that I have been interested in is Predator 2, as I am a fan of the Alien/Predator series, but I have found it hard to be able to find it, I supose since I am 18 now I could borow it from Blockbuster. But going off what some people have told me off for aparently showing movies that are rated R in their country, I suppose supose some of the Alien and Predator movies. The Underworld movies are a favirout, probably also a few more that I don't relise are rated R though in other countries.
